I personally think Donaldson is key here. Two up front....Donaldson and either Vaughn or Doyle.

But for me Donaldson is the key to improving our goals per game ratio. We have missed him far more than we realise.

 

I agree in part. Getting the best out of Doyle is going to involve a change in mindset from Bowyer and it remains to be seen if he has it in him. The fact he now has the countries leading goal scorer in his ranks forces his hand a bit and might encourage him to attack a bit more.

We have the players to change our style. Reeves, Palmer, Cooke, Devitt, Pritchard, Ismail are players with technical ability who would benefit from playing football on the deck as opposed to the tedious hoof we’ve seen. We created a fair amount of chances in a 4-3-3 and this was amid our injury crisis when we had the likes of Akpan and Devine occupying midfield. Bowyer has the players, he just needs to give them license and work out a system to get the best out of them.

You can’t regret, if you are serious about promotion you have to take risks. However he is our player and we will pay his wages. It shows ambition by the club, if we had signed a striker half way through the season with 23 goals under his belt, there would have been a melt down on here.

Far too simple for City and Bowyer. No, it needs to be over complicated by playing a number 10 in a diamond and hoofing 70 yard balls to a 5ft11 centre forward.

We can easily let 3 or 4 centre midfielders leave if we are to adapt a 4-4-2 going forward.

 

Saw a stat recently that said Wood was in the top few in all four divisions for crossing accuracy, not just the amount of crosses. So that answers that one.

 

We play 442, keep it simple. Or a slight variation coming off the bench if needed. Under no circumstances should we playing Doyle or Vaughan up front on their own. If we require backs to the wall defending then it has to be Donaldson.
