He did a fantastic job at Bradford City, he was the right fit at the right time, nobody, not even you, could deny that

 

Until he takes hold of another lower league club in crisis and stops them getting relegated and/or gets them promoted and keeps them up. As he did at Colchester, City and Bolton.

 

Agree to a degree there, think we might have got lucky with Parkie, think his heart was in the club at the time but his football ( as today ) could be hard work to watch sometimes...

 

Desperate stuff Ricc.
He got them promoted and kept them in the Championship under the most extreme circumstances that would have seen most managers quit long before he did. Bill Shankley, Jurgen Klopp, Alf Ramsey and Jose Mourhino working together wouldn't have kept Bolton up last season.

 

Now Parky letting the fans fav and their best player leave after a trading ground bust up that McGeady had.

But when you're in Parkinsons position it doesn't look good when you effectively blank one of the fans favourites. I get why he did it, the manager should be the one in charge, but unless results dramatically improve he's out of there. Forget what he did here, thats done and gone. Sunderland have far bigger expectations. That said, in league 1 with the players at your disposal at Sunderland you should be successful. Get it right up there and you'll get legend status amongst the mackems.

 

I would have thought what he did here was one of the reasons Sunderland appointed him ?.

 

Why? We were in league 2 when Parkinson took over but with no real expectation rather than to beat relegation to non league. Sunderland have way bigger expectations, they need a manager to not only take them out of league 1 but to also be very competitive in the championship. Parkinson has never shown an ability above the lower leagues. i think it was a poor choice of manager for Sunderland because of where they are looking to be.

 

Not the first bad choice Sunderland have made since the heady days of when Roy Keane got them back into the Premier League, they have no divine right to success.

 

Expectations and divine right are two different things. I would expect Sunderland and their fans expect them to get out of this division quite quickly, that doesn't mean they have a divine right.

 

I'm debating to think that Ricc is more obsessed with Parky than McCall

 

I listened to the 606 phone in on the way back from Carlisle- a Sunderland fan reckons a recent poll had 96% of them wanting rid of Parky!
