What it does is help with the next few seasons budget rather than a big cash boost now

Unfortunately the windfall will presumably be coming in instalments as transfer fees are paid over an agreed period. Hopefully any upfront money (first instalment) will be substantial enough to be a significant amount for us too.

Well for my part he can have a slap on the back for that piece of business. I don’t care that it was part of his job, plenty don’t do their job even though they are in that position, and we don’t have to look to far back for that realisation. Plus I don’t think 15% was the norm then either.

I think if Rupp is willing to put further money into the squad, he will be happy to do that knowing he can take it back as and when paid.

Who knows what Rupp would do with any transfer fee money, if he knew the first installment was due on a defined date (I'm sure Julian Rhodes would keep him in the picture) he could use that to cover a loan he made if Gary Bowyer wanted a specific player before this window closed or the January window opened.

Beat me to it @Onside@Onside ;).

Why would we have to put all the money upfront? I'm assuming it'll only be wages anyway so would be spread over however many years of the contract. On the off chance there is a fee though I'd imagine we'll also spread it out and pay in installments to match any McBurnie money.

If Rupp takes his 'extra' money back that he put in to cover the mess from last year as people are suggesting there will not be anything left to spread out.

To be honest I think we all just need to chill out a bit and wait and see what happens, a lot of comments about where the money will go but none of us really knows. All I will say is S Rupp has been as good as his word since the Edin debacle and I for one am happy to trust he has the interests of the club much more to heart now. I dont know for sure but I am pretty certain if GB has in mind someone he would like from the McBurnie money (and remember this is still far from a done deal) then SR is far more likely now to look to support him than when he was previously somewhat in the dark to what was going on. And before anyone pounces, I know he should not have been in the dark to such a degree but I am only interested in us moving forward .

It’s already been reported that we can get the couple of players we want once we either get rid of players or mcburnie moves on

It will either happen or not, I'm happy with the way Rupp has allowed Julian Rhodes and Gary Bowyer to go about club business, I'm sure Julian is keeping him aware of exactly whats happening unlike his ex partner.

Really hope that is the case Lord as I still think we are a couple short - all I was trying to say is the upturn in mood around the club is in part down to Stefan's support and I see no reason to question his commitment and backing going forward. I know nothing is ever for certain in football but as recently as April this year I honestly didnt see the club being in such an upbeat position going into the new season.
Still a lot of last seasons players who have to win the fans faith back over, I accept this, but even some of them have started to show some promise this pre-season under GB (Gibson and AOC to name 2)

I cant get my head around that the gangling raw youngster we briefly saw turning out for us a few years ago, is now valued at £20m. Fair play to the lad, and well done Rhodes and Lawn for negotiating the sell on clause

perhaps the public nature of this bid might bring other potential suitors out of the shadows.

I think that is the real issue we should be discussing, just shows that players many might write off can improve and mature in different enviroments - it applies to all of us in other aspects of life so why not footballers? And perhaps we have a few more at the club who might meet this criteria (though cant think of who right now ;))

A strange one for sure, Manchester United ask if they could take him to the Milk Cup Tournament in Ireland I believe, he came back with "The Golden Boot" which I think Manchester United won, they saw something in him and I was surprised they did not keep an eye on him for the future.

Wasn't it the late Peter Horne who said he was the complete striker at his age he'd seen him score with his left foot, right foot and a great header of the ball.

Whatever happened to McBurnie's brother. They played together in the youth squad but as soon as Ollie was transferred to Swansea I never heard of his brother again?
