Negative spin??? It's reality. This club is being run into the ground by incompetent morons. It beggars belief that a select few can't see it.

But thank God we still have a club to support.

 

I'll repeat a question I asked previously. What did you think of the 'competence' of the previous board, one minute after Jackson resigned in August 2011?

 

I don't follow.

If you're asking me what I thought of the previous board.... not the biggest fan. But I'd take them over the current ones, like a shot.

 

Why?

Tell me what they did, apart from get lucky with some cup runs, that makes them so much better you'd "take them over the current ones, like a shot"

 

Something about year on year progression....

We're they perfect? No. And there was no investment to propel the club. But they were direct and honest about that. They empowered people to do their jobs, they were transparent with fans. They re-engaged fans, focused on getting the best team on the pitch they could.

With the limited means they had, they found a way to take the club forward.

And ultimately, I trusted them to put the club's interest before their own pride and personal interest.

 

From 2007 to 2011 there was no progress, little spending and regression to the relegation zone. And that was over 4 years. And that was in L2

The current board have been here for two years, spent more, but a bad 6 months in L1, where we end in the top half, is apparently disastrous

The previous owners took on a sinking ship.

The current ones bought into a club with momentum and managed to kill it.

I'm not glamourising the previous owners. They weren' perfect and we were in need of investment.

But the current ones are taking us backwards and I fear they've only just started. They'll take us down next season. They couldn't have made a bigger mess of last season if they'd tried.

I'm not trying to defend the previous owners.

But now we have two owners who're sinking the ship again in front of our eyes.

Maybe the fact that we can have a genuine discussion about which are the shittiest owners, is a key indicator as to why were sun a mess.

 

The owners had their chance to show that lessons had genuinely been learned when probably the most proven manager you can get at this level took 4 months to weigh us up and say 'here's what i need to take you up' and said 'nah'.

My master plan would be to invest what it takes to remedy some of the infrastructure challenges we have, engage supporters in a sensible debate about whether we'd be willing to pay more for tickets if guarantees could be made about playing budgets rather than assume people only buy because it's cheap, and invest in better players.

Theres a price tag that comes with improving this club and both board and supporters need to be willing to do their bit. Because without investment we'll go absolutely nowhere. Except backwards.

You need perspective. If you want a "shittiest owners" competition, then go for the Oystons, Bates and Cellino at Leeds. The mob at Leyton Orient. Charlton. Northampton. Port Vale. Chesterfield. Oldham
