    Been working. Ugh.

In between watched episode 1 of 3 on BBC1 at 9pm about recycling and single use plastic. Well worth watching on catch up.

Scary, nearly a million tonnes of "recyclables" dumped abroad

    The volume is just staggering.

For a few months I've been trying to cut down on the packaging on fruit and veg. It's not easy and it is more expensive. I reconcile it because it is only me and the girl so buying one pepper for 40p is "cheaper" than 3 for £1 because I wouldn't use the 3. I manage to get plastic covering-less brocolli, potatoes, mushrooms, onions, carrots, fruit is harder but if I was buying larger volumes it would be way harder because I can't go to a shop to buy fresh stuff every day.

We're lucky in that we get 90% of our fruit & veg in Romford market, we don't buy much in fresh food in supermarkets as we also have butcher, baker & fishmonger locally and for two of us the price difference is manageable, not sure for a family though. Also we have the time.

The fact we ship rubbish abroad to poorer countries to deal with is a disgrace. We should do everything we can, fair play to you Botta / IB, we try to do similar, but i feel deep down it’s gone too far and it’s not easy for many people when they have more pressing issues, day to day to worry about. The only hope is our kids generation do a better job than those running things before. We really are knackering the planet. And it’s hard to point the finger too much at developing countries going through the kind of polluting industry stage, because we did the same. I think the kind of massive lifestyle changes required by consumers, just aren’t going to happen quick enough and on the required scale. Life needs to go back to being a lot simpler with less ‘stuff’ but can you honestly see that happening?

I’m a cheery soul :brig: time for PARANORMAL: CAPTURED :eek2: o_O
