I suppose @Smartmart@Smartmart used the term was, so past tense! There was no need to say he was talking nonsense, your first paragraph was sufficient.

On his day Jim did a lot for City, but at approaching 32 and in decline plus I suspect carrying a few long term injuries, then apart from height he offers nothing more than Doyle.

I would not choose to have Hanson back now and I am not convinced by Doyle, who doesn’t see to excel in any particular role.

It remains to be seen with Doyle I think he will score goals as a penalty box player. He certainly isn’t a centre forward who can win and hold the ball up as he was asked to do last season

Possibly right but that does not mean we have a reason to bring him back.

Our strikers were poor and therefore we need better

erm mate, you're holding up someone's National League appearences as proof he's good.

O'Connor has played Rep. Ireland Under 17, under 19 and under 21 football, he's played League Two football, and League 1. oh and the SPL and in the Europa League.

Sorry, but I just don't see any of that, Park.
Doyle missed so many sitters, and often fluffed his lines when a team mate set him up - That I just don't know where all these goals are going to come from. If Doyle needs a Target man to constantly set him up ......... Then that shows me a lazy schitt, with no talent of their own. :(

Earlier in his career Doyle used to score goals from outside the penalty area, even when playing for Oldham in the 17/18 season. However when I've been down for matches I don't remember him shooting from distance and wonder if the injury/illness which kept him out for several weeks early last year is the problem?

He had a blood cot in his leg ,but last season you’d have thought he’d had it amputated the way he missed his chances and fell on his arse.

One thing City can't afford to do in our recruitment, this time .......... Is sign any 'sick notes', or players with 'issues'.

Let's take last season, June player exits aside ...........

Firstly ......... Telling Killa to piss off was gross negligence, not an error, or mistake. Not only that - We couldn't even keep Jim O'Brien !!
Next - Who could foretell, at August KO that City would be without Reeves, McCartan, Robinson, Scannell and Jones for the best part of the campaign ? (Don't even mention the disappointments of Patrick, Gibson and Riley etc.)
Further - It was great to learn that City retained Paynes services, beyond January. However, not at the high financial cost that impeded further recruitment. Particularly as his form evacuated his arse faster than I could crap on a good dose of laxatives .......... And then he was dropped totally !!! :(

Top of my wish list for 2019 / 2020, is that not only does Bowyer know football, he has a great understanding and knowledge of recruitment ... Be that over twelve or twenty four months (Dependant on how long City are saddled with half a squad of losers.)

Don’t think that’s true he hasn’t the physical attributes to do what he was asked last year. I still think with a physical forward alongside him he would score goals. However he will be on big money so if he has to move so be it

I'd be happy for Doyle to move on, Park. No malice - I just know we can get better (League 2 equipped) for less money. Not so sure we'd get a high fee, though ..... Certainly not our £350k back ! :(
And that is a sad reflection on the self willed harm the players of last year have done ....... Their stock has gone down, and with it the number of Clubs wanting their services. Early days, I know ....... But I'm not aware of any serious bid for any of our failed squad, so far.

I have to disagree Ronnie, i think with the right addition AND if McCarten is kept and used, we're only one decent signing away from having a very potent strike force. Doyle was the victim of NO service and a style of play that didn't suit.

I said on another thread a while back some of these players WILL be part of the squad this season and who knows, we might see a better O'Donnell, O'Conner and Doyle....maybe even Wright. The last thing i want is for our support to start by booing and giving some of these players stick....a clean slate so to speak. I know some on here won't though :*@

exactly why would the likes of O'Connor and Josh Wright deserve a clean slate?
both are them were an absolute disgrace to themselves, to the shirt and to the title professional footballer. they do not deserve a clean slate just because they had a couple of months off.

I couldn't agree more, on your highlighted point. However, those same players got us relegated, when it could and should have been avoided. So no clean slate from me, as such. Many will be earning four times (and plus) the average supporters income, yet showed less in effort and resilience, to keep their careers and families going.
I'm all for turning over a new page - But no freebie from me, as it's a players responsibility to do that, not mine.

Ronnie/Ricc...what exactly do you want?.....if you want the whole squad changed then i feel you both havn't followed football for long, i've never seen that happen. We have to draw a line underneath it.....There is no magic wand, there is no sugar daddy, we've been given the budget and for me it speaks plainly what we've got to play with.

My hope is the City faithful will back what Bowyer puts together no matter who stay's or goes. I'll certainly start the season hoping for an imdeiate return but my head tells me it will take a couple of seasons
