What?? Don't scream bullshit at a post, then not tell the poster which part you think is bullshit. Didn't think I was being unfair?

Yes, but you tend to find that it’s the “new season” stock that is brought in to the shops. You don’t tend to get winter woolies in the “new lines” being sold in January.

The fashion business tend to bring out new seasonal ranges that are slightly before when you actually need it.

Besides, if you go into a retailer and buy yourself a new top, you don’t expect to be throwing it away just 4mths later. And that’s what fans would do if they bought a 3rd choice shirt in December

Not to drag this on forever but I think it’s a pretty good idea, it won’t effect the sales of the home shirt, I doubt anyone is saying “I’ll wait for Christmas, just to see check I don’t like the 3rd kit more”.
Then when Christmas does come around, its an easy present for people to pick up (stocking filler type thing?), it’s a bit of excitement for fans on social media and if results are going well and there is a bit of a feel good factor at the club I think a fair few people will be happy to spend their money in the club shop again.

For me football shirts aren’t really like any other type of fashion, I wear our shirts as a matter of pride, it’s not as if the L**ds shirt was nicer I’d be off down the road to pick one of them up. I don’t really need it advertised to me on a catwalk the season before to make me want to buy it!

    Ha, Ha, :)
OK ........ But to illustrate your post, as I see it (tongue in cheek ;) ).........

Are you the type of person who works a 12 hour shift, buying a News paper on their way to work, and only getting around to reading it after your shift - When the latest News is just starting to hit the press ?

I understand what both you and Ronnie are saying, but like I said nobody buys a 3rd kit because they are looking forward to seeing the team play in it are they, I don't have the answer but I doubt the 3rd kit is even used before Christmas by the team is it? You buy a kit because you like the look of it, hence why all the retro kits sites are all over the place now.

So I'd say nobody would throw it away? We ask the club to improve on how they do things and somebody obviously has the data and history that says releasing it with the home and away kit actually has a detrimental effect on the sales of it and would be more benefical and see more spend against it if was released for Christmas.

Easy to launch a 3rd kit at Xmas - the kit will be worn at some point. They could call it a special 'cup kit' or use it as the away kit for the 2nd half of the season.

Does anybody over the age of 10 years old really give a toss if the team wears it or not? It is almost like grown adults are getting 'shirty' over it all.

Home - will almost definitely be traditional stripes, black shorts and black socks.
Away - no white kit last season, blue sales were poor, black has been a kit for a few seasons now. Im saying white.
Third - will be something completely different to drum up interest.

Third kit can be more a casual design and worn on holiday or walking round L●●●s.

You, and most others are missing the point (MY point), here. MY gripe is ........ Hoping to sell a Team shirt at full price, for just half a season !!
Jeeeeeze ................ I've taught learning deficient people, with more savvy, than some on here.

Why, oh why, do so many try to strip, to the bare bones, a simple post ??

I'm all for the Club maximising profits, and improving choices in the shop .......... But let's not con fans by selling a 'season kit' (third choice, or otherwise) when it will be available, and relevant for only half of it !! So YES, I am getting shirty !!

I think you are missing the point everyone else is making if anything Ronnie, you still haven't told me which part of my post was bullshit.

You don't have to buy it Ronnie. I expect that there won't be as many made but enough for the predicted sales at Christmas. Some fans like to have a good kit however often it is worn by the team and have the money to purchase them. I buy shirts for my son, who quite often wears those from seasons past. He didn't get one this year though.

I don't like being a walking advertising hoarding so don't buy them for myself. If you could buy a no sponsors version (even paying a bit more) I would buy one, but demand likely to be low so I can't see it happening. The design isn't usually very flattering for a woman's shape either.

It is possible that a third strip, launched at Christmas, could be used the following season as well. That could make a big difference to sales. One or two clubs still use strips for more than one season, e.g. second strip one season, becomes third strip the following season.

I always thought that there was the possibility that the ‘third kit’ could be valid from December to November. In reality it would be more like a calendar year kit, so could feature over part of two seasons. It would be helpful if @Glenn Ackroyd@Glenn Ackroyd could provide some more detail as to when this third kit would ‘current’ and possibly be worn by the team.
