Dunno - I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it could have something to do with Christmas, could be wrong tho.

It makes sense financially, no one really needs 3 kits, only sell the first two and the fans will buy them. When a 3rd kit comes out it’s the perfect Xmas present for the fan who already has one of the others. A decent media splash at the time would drum up sales for lazy present buyers.

The gold fag packet strip takes some beating, even if it was worn for some of our greatest performances of recent times.

    Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more ...........

The damn Calendar is virtually out of date, before it's in use, so who the Hell will buy a 'NEW' shirt, mid season ?
If our leading fashion retailers think like this - It's no wonder they're all going bust !!

Leading fashion retailers have been doing this since the start of trading Ronnie, they don't go bust because they run promotions at Christmas!

Yes they do, Most large retailers specifically order new lines in advance for release at Christmas, They know that the increased Christmas turnover in stores will tempt customers to purchase the new designs and stock, This is why stores have 2 sales periods at New year and a Summer sales

They definitely do Ronnie, I work for a distributor and there is always focus on seasonal promotion and what new lines can be brought in to bring in revenue. It makes absolute sense for the club to bring a new kit in before Christmas.

OK, OK, OK ....... To both you and @trevor@trevor ......
I get the point .......... Retail in general does have to make the best of a seasonal market.

    However, to you both ........
Come the end of year, the 'Rag Trade' are starting to launch Spring and Summer fashions, not introducing a new line of product, whose life is short term, because it's current - NOT without severe discounting !!

HOW can you launch a 2019 / 2020 third team strip in December, when the season is already half done ? It's unlikely the kit will be worn until 2020, so will only have half a 'shelf life'. So why call it a 2019 / 2020 Shirt, when it will be only partially 2020 ??

FWIW, my wife has occupied a senior role within the 'rag trade' for over 30 years, supplying major retailers with 'seasonal' garb. Such products are introduced via cat walks, etc, BEFORE the season, not bloody half way through it. NOW do you both get my point ??

I for one would not purchase - at FULL price, a damn Shirt with a limited life expectancy.

A third kit people buy for more novelty than anything don't they, it's not like they buy it because they feel the team might be wearing it at some point.

If it's released at the start of the season all you are doing is diluting the sales away from it because the other two options which will actually be worn by the team far more than what a 3rd kit one will be purchased more.

Like I said, the 3rd kit is purely a revenue gaining product which makes more sense to release as a stand alone item than release with two more items.

    Not at all, BB .....
I appreciate and understand what I know, but also know what I appreciate, in terms of investment and interest.
Only the BCAFC future figures will tell us if this shirt launch is a success or not.

Let's not be bitter, but merely accept two differing points of view, huh ? :)
