No one got close to Mowatt either. Set one up and scored. Obvious danger man. Did we do our homework in ten days off or did we piss about with a 5 day break?

 

It'll be interesting to hear DHs rationale for the changes he made.

 

They never had to get out of second gear. It was like the Collins era again, players out of position and only O’Donnell saving us from a severe thrashing.

 

That was a poor day at the office.
I think they showed us how week we are are down the flanks Thiame (or what ever he is called) ripped us apart.
I think he was on caddis’s side so you can’t blame chicksen.
Didn’t play with the determination of late. There wasn’t much closing down and there were a few silly mistakes. Hopefully we will get back up to tempo next game. Don’t want to be going backwards right now.

 

100% my feelings

 

This game was lost the minute Hopkin saw Barnsley on the fixture list, he was far too scared of them and the way we set up today was bizarre at best.

Barnsley showed how important pace is in this league, their two wingers and right back were the best players on the pitch, we have no pace in the squad at all.

Massive work this week needed in the window, still need 4 players and we can't keep going into games with such a weak bench, some urgency is needed now.

We should play the team on the park not the team in the paper/league table.

The thing is though Shell, we are further away than ever in being able to match the top teams on this league.
Our squad is painfully short of talent, and I do worry about this window, where I think there is a chance we could be further weakened, if we lose someone like Payne for example

I genuinely thought we would have seen more new players in by now. Instead we have a young defender who was struggling to get a game at Blackpool.

 

Was it a good atmosphere at the game today?

 

I thought you’d be a Babs Windsor type of guy.

 

The major disappointment is we changed things, and that provides the focus for excuses and scapegoating.

Instead of losing to a better team, the narrative switches to less relevant statements about tactics and formations.

Its a shame to read about it, because our team is nowhere near as complete as Barnsley's and its quite clear on basically every metric this season has and will ever produce.

 

Having listened to the interviews with David Hopkin and Paul Caddis on Pulse via audioboom it's clear why he selected the formation he did. Hope Akpan is struggling to start games once again.

Paul Caddis comes across well and speaks a lot of sense.

 

We gave them the game from the moment Hopkin pinned the team sheet up in the changing room. Caddis in midfield, Paudie O’Connor slotted into a back line that had been keeping clean sheets, not changing a failing formation until way late into the game etc.

Lets not kid ourselves, Barnsley could easily have had 8 or 9 today had they had their finishing boots on and had O’Donnell not had a good game. Sometimes managers don’t help themselves, today was one of those days.
