I say parlour, more an ice cream front for more dodgy dealing, but you get the drift.

 

My local for 18 years, great people.

 

Worked behind the bar there in 1981 was a regular till it closed and continued in the new oddies till that closed too

Many a good night here, even helped run it for a year around 2000/2001. Seen plenty of good bands over the years.

 

Hare & Hounds - Undercliffe

Many a great night there, and over the road in the Malt Kiln, in the mid to late 70's/early 80's. Even mid week they were both rammed, with a brilliant atmosphere, and some friendly young ladies!

Often bumped into Don Hutchins enjoying a drink or two, cracking fella, who was always happy to enjoy a good craic with you

 

Was the Washington pub

 

Finest pint of Tetleys around in the "Crim" as it was affectionately known"
As a Wrose lad spent many a wobbly legged evening in there

 

Dont panic still open recent snap still looking good. Thought i would share it good city pub and a nice pint of Guinness .

 

I was good mates with them. I used to guest on harmonica with them sometimes.
They played at my wedding evening do at East Morton Institute in 1986, along with Somebody's Brother, who I also played with a lot.
Only one of Four Beats is still alive now, sadly.

 

The legendary Melbourne. Scene of many a great local band and a very long running Sunday afternoon jam session run by Denny Austin (from Somebody's Brother).
Brother Eamonn still shows up at the occasional jam session I go to (and hehe sti can't keep time).

 

The Peel, Longside Lane, immediately behind the university.
This was a regular place to drink and play pool when I was a student, between 1980 & 1984. Served a great pint of Webster's dark mild.
The Tuesday evening jam session moved here (from the Elephant & Castle, Gt Horton Rd) later in the 80s and stayed for several years before moving to the Love Apple bar.

My grandads local, he lived just round the corner when i was a kid. I remember brother Eamonn well, my dad and his brother used to go here regularly in the eighties and nineties and i tagged along in my early drinking days. Great times.

 

That was a bit after my time with them. I had kids by then and wasn't playing out much. I used to play regularly with them in the mid 80s when they played at the Elephant & Castle and other local pubs. I did some recording with them at Flexible Response studio on Chapel Street, Little Germany but nothing much came of it.

 

The Boars Head at the bottom of Cheapside, you can make out the Midland Hotel to the right.
