Depends on definition of Division 1. If it is a league called Division 1 I’d find that hard to believe. If it is third tier then again unlikely

It makes you wonder what we could have taken if we'd been there or there abouts.

Was at Valley Parade, we' d moved back there 4 months previously . We did play Sunderland at Udders the previous season, we won that one too on New Years day 86 by 2-0...seem to remember the atmosphere been superb that day. ..think we were still drunk from the night before !!

Enjoy Christmas Day as you might be surprised on Boxing Day especially if your players think it is going to be a walk over ;)

I remember getting mauled in the days of Quinn and Phillips but I also remember John Dreyer scoring there in the PL to help keep us up.

All the pressure is on the Mackems. Could well be a battering. Time will tell......

For anyone interested and stuck for something to watch on the tellybox, there's a new documentary series on Netflix about Sunderland that's worth a look.

Is it American narrators like the other Juventus series? That was painful

It's not narrated thankfully. Way back when, the Premier Passions documentary was narrated by the lovely Gina McKee, but then with the follow-up (Premier Pressures), some smart-arse in the BBC decided to ask Mark Lawrenson to do it. Not a popular man in Sunderland... to put it politely.

I think most Sunderland fans had to psyche themselves up to watch Sunderland 'Til I Die, considering it documented the worst season in our 139 year history. But I think most have been pleasantly surprised. It's quite cathartic to be honest. Still creates moments of rage (Jack Rodwell, Lewis Grabban), but puts a very human side on the story. Critical response (and the response of non-Sunderland fans) has been really positive too.

Fingers crossed for a second season. I suspect the Boxing Day game would feature.

I want to travel up for this, but is it not risky with what seems like only 600 ish pay on the gate available? Long way to be dissapointed at the turnstiles, especially if we beat Scunny tomorrow as it will add a few to the numbers travelling.

Just phoned them, there are just over 500 seats available. She said they will not open any more up no matter how many turn up. Turnstile 71. cash only no card reading facility.
