We could still finish about 8th so while I am very disappointed how the season has ended, it isn't a disaster some will have you believe.

This team is what it currently is, a mid table side. Its neither good nor bad. At no stage this season did i think it was good enough to go up yet over the season bad enough to go down.
Even when third we never really impressed, i can count on one hand the amount of genuinely impressive performances.
Grayson isn’t daft, he knows the score. Thats why he wants a budget he feels is necessary to have a realistic crack at promotion. If he departs quickly after the last game we know that isn’t the case. An interesting summer awaits after what has been years of progress, this is the first one to regress.

20 goals for a relegated team isn't bad even if L2 standard. If we can get him for under £100k then I would support that.

Where did he say that clearly? The headline said that but I don't think he was actually quoted that directly.

He said "it would be great to stay" I assume he also thought it would be great to double his wage and play at a higher level. He hardly going to say it would be terrible to resign half way through the season is he. Have a think.

City fans are a funny bunch. if I'd posted "i think Meredith would have stayed" with no link, I'd have been laughed at, dismissed and asked to provide a link. so I posted a link that spells out he wants a new contract, from half way through last season - but despite this, it's obviously not true and he'd not have signed regardless.

 

They were motivated when they traveled down to Yeovil on the Friday, then something happened before the Saturday game and they became unmotivated, I totally agree we should have still been good enough to either win or bring them back to Valley Parade, but something seriously damaged team spirit that day.

 

After the final he wouldn't have stayed, completely agree with that.

but to say we couldn't have kept him at all isn't true, because we could have got him to sign a new contract months earlier than that.

 

Half of them are penalties and he's scored less than Charlie Wyke since Jan 1st.

 

But was it before Christmas where Stuart said the club would be sitting down with players (and I presume their agents) and talking new contacts which never happened, if he'd been signed up and Millwall fancied him after the Wembley final at least Meredith would have commanded a decent transfer fee.

 

It's not about whether I say so. It's simply that he didn't say what you said he clearly did.

It doesn't even say he wants a new contract. Quite the opposite. It says he's happy to wait and see what happens but isn't ruling out resigning for us if everything stacks up at the end of the season. Read the words he actually said....

Meredith confirmed initial contract conversations have taken place – but he is not in a hurry.

He said: "I've had chats with the club. I think it will probably be something that will happen later on down the line. I think they are happy with how I'm doing and there will be plans for the future. I'm okay with it as it is at the moment. I'm just enjoying the football and we'll see what happens.

Regardless of what the headline says his actual words couldn't be any more clear that he's happy to wait and see.

 

And yet here we are 4 months down the line and we still don't know what caused it. All the initial rumours about it have been knocked back one way or another.

i fully believe if we wanted to keep Meredith we could have signed him on again months earlier than the play off final.

 

How do you know “he was wrong” though? Are we in the Championship yet? Lawn said that he and Rhodes were confident of getting us there but that they didn’t have the finances to make us competitive once there.

As such, he ‘bragged’ (I’m not sure he was bragging at all), that they would only sell to someone that could keep us competitive and were happy to have found such a pairing. Until we get there, we don’t know if Lawn was right or wrong.

Stop being a complete arse. You clearly dislike Lawn (which is fair enough - not many do like his style), but let’s hit make things up to beat him with....!

 

Not sure I'd want us to go back for Dennis, on 10 May 2016, Dennis signed for League One club Chesterfield, so unless they have given him a new contract he should be on a free come May 2018, but I'm still not keen on the lad we should be looking at better than a league two striker IMO.
