What the likes of @babrotam and other happy clappers have failed to realise is that;

o'donnell/macgowan/scannell/akpan have not played around 40 games a season for a few seasons now, research it on wiki or whatever floats your boat.
Back-ups were needed if they dont usually make a full season but then look at our current bench and edin's bring in the young ones to sell on has made itself felt.
A hot mess compounded by making wright club captain to replace killa.
Should players get picked again and again no matter how poorly they play?

Not much choice really, and that is by design.

 

The one good thing from today (yes there is such a thing) is hopkin will now know how bad we are first hand and hopefully getting rid of Abbott and Drury to bring in his own assistants should be the first act. Then a few double training session should be in order especially for the midfield and defence. I don't expect a postive result next week against Charlton but then have a feeling we will start to pick up points (Can't believe I just said that) as hopkin by then should have been able to put down a marker.

 

Abbott latching on to the fans applause for Hopkins pre match p1ssed me off also, he should of gone before MC.

 

I said that last week he makes law a world beater and I personally did say last season (hold my hands up) law was a crab ( yes crab not crap) footballer but by God wright isn't even fit enough to tie nickys laces.

 

Been calling for his head since mccall left just as bad as Edin in my eyes needs to go.

 

Do agree with that and I feel a lot have come from clubs where the expectation maybe isnt quite as high.

Signed players from Wimbledon, Blackpool, Shrewsbury, Southend and then the rest is made up of reserves and former youth players.

If we play like we did today midfield were missed out, Payne was the only one who wanted to bring the ball down and pass it.

 

Well just got home and the disappointment has waned somewhat.

In reality we probably got what we deserved as Blackpool were far more dangerous on the ball than we were. They played some neat stuff and have some tricky players who we just couldn't cope with.

DH has a job on to lift the players and find a team that has enough experience to see us through September and hopefully onto some stability.

Support today was above excellent except the moaning bastards sat behind me who spent the whole game slagging city players off. Why bother going if you can't at least offer some encouragement to the players?

It looked like there were more than 1804 there though. That end was at least 90% full and it holds around 2500 I believe. Another Rochdale accounting episode??

 

You can go on all day about needing this and needing that we like the vast majority of League one sides can’t afford to have lots of senior players sitting around twiddling their thumbs on the bench. A certain amount of luck is required with injuries but we can reduce the risk by better fitness and better fitness coaches.

 

Agree put Xavi and Iniesta in there and theyd see none of the ball given the way we played

Got to get rid of Abbott and Cone Alone no idea why the pair of them were hanging around today ? Hopkin needs to run this shower his way!

 

C'mon Park wake up, the club by design have brought in players that will not last a season so yes we need senior players on the bench and they wont be twiddling their thumbs for long as they will be on the pitch!
The likes of scannell and akpan being injured isnt bad luck-they have form.

Better fitness and fitness coaches, what exactly is pre-season about.
If you dont hit the ground running......................you'll get left behind.
An expensive and demoralising lesson being learnt.

 

Couldn’t get there today unfortunately listened on radio Leeds and from the comments on here they watched a different game to anyone on here that attended....... they made out wright was having a really good game for a start (I did find that hard to believe!!!) comments on here however do suggest that was not the case. If today was anything like previous games central midfield is the massive problem we have, can’t continue with the pathetic attempts at tackling the current midfielders make or we will continue to put defence under too much pressure and never get ball back to actually attack ourselves.

 

Am I missing something, or have both Wright and Akpan been poor this season?

I don't really see how their injuries are such a big deal. Two poor players out, a load of teenagers in.

That's not just my assessment - do yourself a favour and listen to Hopkin's interview after the game. He talked openly and bluntly about 'having to bring on kids'.

Those lads AREN'T first teamers, they're development squad players. How many first team-ready midfielders should we have? More than just Wright and Akpan, considering we knew Reeves was injured...
