Its alright having the most crosses but ultimately its the quality of those crosses thats important. And i agree that we need to have an attacking threat down the middle, we became so predictable that teams were pushing our wing backs back into our own half. Then the goto default of hoofball became the only option

He could not wait to get away to Bristol in Jan.I don't see any future for him here, and I think Evans could lead Bristol to a good season,so that might tempt him.

But we have just signed Beasley who loves crosses into the box - the very system that relies on us to play that way.

I dont see a return to 433 anytime soon. Be odd to change that after snagging Beasley. But I agree, a more dynamic attacking CM is a must to give us an outlet through the middle too.

I think we should have the option to play 4 or 5 regardless of the targetman. A lot of teams use a solo target man now but to be honest with our 5 at the back, the balls coming in rarely came from Sarce or Pointon. Usually was the wing back and then if not because we loaded up and they were back, it was the wide CB getting it in. The amount of times a Tilt or Pennington or Baldwin were having to put the final ball in got a bit silly at times.

I suppose if you go 4231 or 433, the aim is for the winger to have the end product, but if not the back up is the full back coming to support, who are still better options than our CBs lobbing one in. I'd like to have a bit more fluid options on the bench to either start with a 5 and move to a 4 or the other way round. Felt like that season got a bit "square peggy" at times with the options.

We have to have both formations. One of things I noticed last season was our inability to change when a team was on top of us. We didn’t have a number 9, and our midfield was stodgy and rooted in defence. We needed players who can change things around.

I thought Burton played with a 3 man midfield tbh and he got 20 goal contributions. I’m not saying don’t cross, just have the option to be a lot less predictable by having someone who can drive through midfield centrally.

All these early prediction vlogs aren't worth a watch really as they are just for clicks and likes and have no real value.
I do like to watch Callum during and after all the transfer business is conducted because he knows most of the teams, managers and players attributes, he collaborates with other content makers and makes me laugh.

Sounds like we are looking for a new starting keeper this summer and GA wants a proper competition for the place from this morning's T&A article.

That wasn't exactly my take from the article but I'm hoping it's just GA being diplomatic and respectful towards Walker.

Didn't Doyle go to watch Salford's keeper the other week. He could be coming in but he looked poor in the play off final. Wouldn't mind someone like Collins coming in from Burton.

Brilliant news if true . I think most of us know the writing is on the wall for Walker?

Yeah I think he is being diplomatic. He isn’t gonna come out and say Walker is shit. He is being respectful

Ex Barnsley stopper Brad Collins, just been released from Coventry, spent last season on loan at Burton, has been linked with us.

It was my take , “ here’s the wall, read the writing” tbh.

    “Sam understands”,

“The idea is we don’t want an absolute defined number one and two”

“But I want to be confident in both my goalkeepers that they can play in the league games and help us defend well and keep clean sheets.” ( Defend well ! ).

“I’ve got every confidence that Sam will understand that and stand up to it because he’s a competitor.”

“Players are quite quick at understanding teammate’s qualities and I don’t think it’s a good scenario if they realise that competition isn’t really there.“

Yes open to interpretation , but the bit about “able to defend well” . Something that frankly Walker does not do, like modern keepers.? Imho of course.

To me it only reads like he wants a competition? And it was written as i he's already spoken to Sam about the plan and wants a contest.

He looks to have some good attributes and compares well to other keepers stats-wise. He would be a good signing.

It’s the way it should be competition for every position including keeper
