While I agree that the whining about our current facilities is ridiculous, we also have to move on from the "we trained on a field 30 years ago if that was good enough then it should be good enough now" mentality.
Football and sports science has moved on rapidly since then, so we need appropriate facilities to keep up - but there is nothing to suggest that we don't have them.
This is why we need someone like David Sharpe in the setup, he has knowledge of footballing operations and ways of doing things at clubs at a similar level and should be able to identify if, and where, we are lacking, which has been missing from the club for too long.

There's a pattern emerges on here dependant on results. Goes for Cooky and the training facilities, when we win Woodhouse Grove is excellent and if Cook scores he's elite athlete with a six pack, if we lose the training facilities are crap and Cooky is a fat b@stard.

Considering we have trained here for 30 years, ans been in all four leagues in that time, I think its time people just shut up about it.
Anyone who blames Rupp for us being at a school needs locking up. He probably couldn't even speak English when we started using this facilityStop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... There's certainly no lack of facilities, and most of their whims are catered for.
Yeah, it's a school, and would I like us to have our own facility - of course. But whilst we have an owner who who couldn't give a crap and we continue to not have a pot to piss in, then they'll have to do.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... The facility's are far and away above anything we have had in the past.
Its time this "we train at a school" rubbish was put to bed once and for all. They are more than good enough for where we are presently.Ulysses S Grant, wetherbywhaler, Captain Grumpy and 4 others like this. -

You’d think we trained at Bash street comprehensive to listen to some. We have our own private training pitch, the facilities are excellent and it would cost a fortune to own something similar as well as pay for the staffing and running costs.

Never heard a peep from the likes of Carbone Collymore McCall Weatherall Beagrie et al (proper footballers)
Time these average at best ex pros put a lid on it -
Those that had a poor returns for the club should be quiet. Moaning about their facilities is not professional. As my dad always used to say it’s a poor workman/footballer who blames his tools for his own performance and unprofessional. Fans had to pay good money to watch his inept performances now we have to listen to his rubbish. Bugger off and learn to be gracious.

These facilities are a mile above what the likes of Lee Sharp slated.
Do some research and come back with a definitive figure of how many league two clubs actually own their own training ground and how many are of a better quality than the ones we use at an expensive fee paying school.
This is a total non issue, perpetuated by those who just want a cheap dig at the club.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Bantam Boy, Captain Grumpy, Hulmebantam and 3 others like this. -

Just looking into it, we started training at Woodhouse Grove in 2012, so Evans is too thick to realise he was training at a different place when he returned for his second spell.

I would like to know just what the better facilities are, at the other League One and Two clubs?
Quantify the difference and the significant shortfalls (if they exist) in provision.
What do they actually have at all these other Training Grounds, that are not present at Apperley Bridge.
l understand and accept that the club doesn’t own its training facility, but just how is it actually deficient.
I don’t own my car, l have it on a PCP…..but it is just as good as the same car, which is owned by its driver.
What Evans, Warnock and Sharpe all have in common, is that they were at the end of their respective careers. Grayson another critic is currently out of work having left an Indian Super League club.
None of them has had success since they left City, personally they were sinking and finished. -
One post on this thread mentioned the behind scenes video which features this, the moaners and ill informed should take a look, as you say "we use the excellent facilities we have", thanks for your reality words.Bigrod, The Original EB, Ulysses S Grant and 2 others like this. -
presuming we don’t and never will have a never ending pot of cash one will have to prioritise over the other.
buying the ground £5-7m
Building training facilities from scratch, at least same again even for basics. And even then probably not as good as where we are now but at least we will own it.
unless we suddenly get an owner with a spare £20m on top of buying the club and sorting the team out then it will stay a blue printJayteebee, WilsdenBantam, Parader and 2 others like this. -
Weird that the training set up was not an issue during the Parky years .............what we sort our training set up and suddenly we are gonna fly through the divisions ........ the bog standard players we have sogned over the last 6/7 years would have suddenly performed a lot better.
To me its a wank argument fair enough if we had been piss poor over the last 20 or so years then there may have been an argument but the Parky years proved that there is little wrong with it.
We all why this club is failing and its got nothing to do with Woodhouse grove...........like someone saod you would think training was held on the Valley parade car park rather than a load of well maintained football pitchesRogered Tart, Kopendin1964, Petrov and 2 others like this.
