Not at all mate I love a good honest hard tackle, trouble is many referees dont like physical contact as its becoming less and less in the modern game.

 

And it still takes him the whole journey to do it

that was years ago. I doubt TMAC could keep up with mike Bassett these days. Robinson will be past him and bearing down on goal whilst McMahon flounders around the halfway line with a snapped cruciate and holding his head to try get the game stopped

 

I was just thinking the same. No mention of thanks in a separate article on the club website. I’d have thought that’s the professional thing to do.

 

Tony Mac will thrive in any animosity. A lot of myths surrounded his last few months with us. His mysterious injury for one. We used to have a lot of banter with him when he used to arrive for matches where incidentally he more than any other player took time for photographs and autographs often making him late. On two occasions during his lay off his wife came on her own and we asked her where Tony was and he had come in early for remedial work with the physio so for at least part of the time he was carrying an injury.

 

Personally, I thought the way in which the whole thing was handled was excellent PR.

 

I think it was just down to signing Doyle at the same time

Subtle difference mate , go in hard win the ball and make sure the lad you've tackled is aware every time he see's you making a challenge he knows what to expect.

 

Am I missing something. Wyke has moved due to goals scored and McMahon assisted a lot of those goals. Increase in wages, signing on fee, moving back home and signing for a bigger club. People on here could find offence with a puppy playing with a toilet roll

Why didn’t Scunny come in when he was released- maybe got a flavour of his tantrums?

He has got a good club and will do well for them as he did for us over two managers.

I think Scunny had a bit of an injury crisis at the time and given they were still in the hunt for a play off place wanted a decent replacement. I think they Did sign someone else in the end, but can't remember who.

 

I think it was quite simple Scunthorpe made an offer and for whatever reason the transfer didn’t go through
