A utility player that's only ever played 2 positions and both in an area where we've the strongest competition in the whole squad?

I dont disagree. But we could be without 3 CBs for opening game and Hunt has been with us all summer...all ppinting to a deal!

 

Chesterfield fans on Metcalfes good bye post were nothing but positive. Apparently had a fantastic spell and is welcome back any time.

Looks like we are signing an accomplished L2 player. Hopefully can make the step up...but at just 20 years old he should only get better. Fingers crossed.

 

We've almost no choice but to play him.

Leigh seemed lost for half of the first half so needs to significantly improve if he's playing centrally.

When Power went off tonight, Baldwin played central midfield which is frankly ridiculous.

Power and Pattison are unlikely to play 50 games together.

Even if he signs we're arguably one short. Or one injury off a very poor central midfield. We got lucky with Smallwood’s fitness last season.

 

GA did say we are chasing 2 players so maybe they are both CMs.

TBH im not concerned at Baldwin filling in at DM during a friendly, especially with an incoming one sat in the stands. It was just to give Power a rest.

No reason why Sarcevic cant play CM this term either. We have plenty of options for the RAM role.

 

I think Sarce will be deeper at some point this season, looking over his career, his attacking numbers are way way down in L1 compared to L2. Defenders will be sharper, and from the looks of our clips from last night we might be pressing a lot quicker than last season, which might not be a good use of Sarce given he has had a fair few muscle injuries in the past few seasons.

 

T&A hinting that another name has been added to the unwanted list...

I might be wrong but I think he picked up an injury in the game in Austria. Hopefully not too serious and he can be shifted on.

 

I don’t want to negative about players but we’ve shifted worse on in the last few years, even managing to get fees in some cases.

 

Smith and odour are certainly capable of getting a club and Wilson will wait as long as possible on good wages before returning to Wales

Oduor has no chance of making the 18. He wouldn't even make our second string XI. He is completely surplus and if he stays it is pizza cup games and an injury crisis of 10 senior pros that sees him make the bench.

 

Saw a chesterfield fan commenting on the video clip of our second goal with the midfield press and he said that Metcalfe will fit into that style like a glove, he never stops moving about.

 

So play Halliday or Goodman there for a game if needs absolutely must? We don't need to sign another bloke who can't play the position when we've already got a bloke whos played there and can't play the position.

 

It's interesting that the suggestion is permanent. Either way, this chap always has some interesting stats.

As Hunty was on the bench last night you would assume he will now stay on. Which is good, he seems popular with the squad and GA.

 

If he indeed hes on a perm then a great signing . Saw him play a few times for Chesterfield last season……He’s all over the place and reminded me of Stuart at the same age.

 

More excited about this signing than any other for a very long time. Exactly the type of player we need.

 

If indeed it does happen permanent I would see it as a good marker for the club. Probably one of those with a large sell on for the selling club
