    I thought this victory should get a mention. The match against Germany had some very good moments.
    Pleased for Lee Carsley. Two international tournament wins is not to be sniffed at.

    It was a good game, some good football played.

    The problem is that many of these players aren't going to develop in the way other young internationals are due to the amount of foreign players in the Premier League.

    If they are good enough they will make it. It was interesting to note that more of our young players are getting experience abroad, which is a good thing.
    Looking at the players who appeared last night, the following all have good experience in the premiership already:
    Livramento, Quansah, Hinshelwood, Elliott, Anderson, Scott, Hutchinson, McAtee, Nwaneri.
    Of the rest Stansfield is at Brum because of high wages.
    Cresswell plays for Toulouse, Rowe plays for Marseille and Egan-Riley has just moved to Marseille as well. Norton-Cuffy has just moved to Genoa.
    Of the squad I think only Beadle, Iling-Junior and Morton are at Premier league clubs but yet to break into their respective first teams. McAtee hasn't featured a great deal for Man City but he has played for them
    In the past it is fair to point to U21 squads who did not progress, but I think Carsley is doing an exceptional job developing these players. To be fair he has good material to work with.

    I don't think that is an issue anymore. Of the starters from the final in 2023 the vast majority are regular starters in the Premier League. There is also a lot more respect for English players in Europe and English players willing to go play aboard.

    A lot of the starting 11 from the final yesterday already have a lot first team minutes in the Premier League or European equivalent.
    • Beadle - recently signed a new deal at Brighton and looks like he's going out on loan to Birmingham
    • Hinshelwood - plays a lot for Brighton
    • Quansah - played a lot for Liverpool and going to get a move to Bayer Leverkusen
    • Cresswell - regular starter for Toulouse
    • Livramento - regular starter for Newcastle
    • Anderson - regular start for Forest
    • McAtee - already has 48 Premier League appearances
    • Scott - regular starter for Bournemouth
    • Stansfield - not sure he will be get to a senior team standard and wouldn't have been playing if Delap wasn't at the Club World Cup
    • Elliott - has nearly 100 Premier League appearances for Liverpool and he's going to get a move this window and be a regular starter wherever he goes.
    • Hutchinson - 30 Premier League starts for Ipswich last season
    Out of that 11 there's probably only going to be 3 not playing top tier football next season but they will be regulars in the Championship

    A bit late to the party but a very enjoyable game, to retain the Trophy to a side that has not lost since their last defeat to England (according to one of the co-commentators) is quite pleasurable in itself.
