Kav bust a guy every game. Not the most technically gifted but never seen him shirking

I think he'll be half decent soon and definitely good enough at that level.

Not what we need right now but I think it's a good signing for Donny.

What have you seen in him that I haven't Monkey? Genuine question as I'm happy to be proved wrong

 

I just think his physical attributes and his willingness to run well make him a decent forward at this level. He was an absolute nuisance at times and being a pest can be very effective in the right set up.

Like I say, probably not for us at this time but I think in 5 or 6 years he'll be an established lower league forward getting a dozen goals or more every year.

 

I think Mellon had more about him intelligence wise and given a preseason with us, would be an asset. He’ll do well with McCann at Donny who gives younger players a chance. We might have missed a trick on this one, but agree we need proven strikers first and foremost.

 

I liked the type of goals Kav was getting at the end of the season. Those little darting runs and deft finishes inside the 6 yard box.

Feel like the kind of goals he can replicate in L1 to be honest, it's hard to prevent them.

I do hope he gets game time.

 

Maybe Im been harsh on the lad, he obviously aint shite, but I didnt rate him for us. An easy pass for me and I am surprised Donny are paying a fee for him. But he is young and plenty of time to improve - a bit like George Miller has.

 

Thing is, I think he looks quite a decent 'footballer' at times...his decision making is woeful. But that part is the easier bit to improve.

 

Strange one Mellon, no city fan wants him back but none would be suprised if he does well for Donny. One of those, Kav kept him out of the team and rightly so

 

MK Dons look to be going for it, offered Will Collar a contract and have signed Collins from Bolton.

 

£300k was touted around in Jan.

I have just looked him up in more depth he has got a contract until 2027 and will surely improve as he gains more experience so his price will only increase.

And on that note what do we value Kavanagh at who became a regular scored goals and is of similar age. Should we be looking at the same price tag or even better.

 

Has Melon actually signed for Doncaster is is it just a rumour

Believe Kavanaghs in his last year now. They may be looking into a new deal this summer, if he steps up well there’ll probably be interest in him and a goalscorer of his age should be demanding a decent fee for us

Strikers are vastly over priced.

 

If they have the funds and contract length / time to develop him then maybe , but instant impact not for me Dave . I would heck pay a fee for him though .

 

How much was the fee though? It may be just the money Burnley owe him for the remainder of his contract as I think it expired this summer anyway, unless he signed a renewal recently.

Like I said though, he's not what we needed at this point so feels a bit pointless discussing him anyway.

 

I think we write off players too quickly and expect an instant impact. Think that's what happened with Mellon. There is a player in him but probably needs continuous game time which he never got here, would he get it at Donny possibly. McCann gives youth more of a chance. I remember many writing off Dara Costelloe yet he did well at Northampton last season and now reported he could be going to Orient.
