And that is why I think the excuse of it is a one of for promotion argument doesn’t hold much water for the majority. It might do for some but as you said it happens regularly and we get hit by a fine every time

When were all the pitch invasions at VP you mention? Struggling!

I was quoting the previous poster. I can remember a few but have missed a number of last games of the season due to work and family commitments

Define regularly. And then show me how many pitch invasions we've had over the last 40 years or so, you can keep one hand in your pocket if using your fingers...

I believe before this season the last pitch invasion at VP was vs Northampton when we finished mid-table.... thats when the club finally decided to ban a ton of little scroates and since then its been relatively quiet.

We will 100% get a fine for fan behaviour, the flares at away games, trouble at donny and other grounds. Its only going to get worse this season with plenty of local derbies. so the authoroties will have to come down hard, maybe restrict away tickets or worse.

Also its disappointing the club haven't issued an apology to Fleetwood nor have they made any attempt to find the individuals responsible for goading fleetwood players and staff, that will 100% go against us :(

I don't think the FA will take exception to the pitch invasion after the final whistle but i'd be surprised if there are no consequences for the pitch incursion during the game, after the goal went in.

Let’s be honest here…There have been very very few as opposed to the “regular occurance” as is being claimed .

How many promotions have we had is a starting point?

I can think of two prior at VP prior to Fleetwood, Bournemouth & Liverpool …..?. Not counting the disaster for different reasons.

There have not been many at Valley Parade for sure. I think the more damaging thing was the 2 pitch invasions before the final whistle. We have previous at Doncaster this season and Crewe last season.
Nobody would bat an eyelid about a pitch invasion after the final whistle on achieving promotion. A pattern of pitch invasions before the final whistle is a different matter.

I was all ready to slaughter anyone who thinks running on the pitch is OK, but when you put it like that...

I agree, normally I wouldn't condone running onto the pitch, bur my whole point was in exceptional circumstances people sometimes to do things that aren't within the rules of an play, we can take the authoritarian approach and say under no circumstances but the world is never back and white, as well all know 'grey areas' occur. And this is one of those situations, technically you're breaking the rules but then so are hundreds of thousands of other fans come every last game of the season across the football world. It's something they and the players who share that moment will remember for the rest of their lives. Now you can either sit there with a face like a smacked arse bemoaning or you can live for the moment. I know which I chose, never regretted a second of it.

I’ve no problem with fans celebrating on the pitch at the end of a game where we’ve won promotion. But it’s just not acceptable to me before the final whistle, let alone doing it twice. Just control yourselves FFS.

Totally agree and posted as much when it was happening before our eyes, I questioned why once the pitch had been cleared after the goal invasion there was any need for an announcement which I believe many thought was the conclusion of the game and once again invaded the pitch.
Not sure the club would make it common knowledge if they have been in touch with Fleetwood with regards an apology about the confrontation from our moronic fans who believed it was acceptable to confront Fleetwoods players, back room staff, and traveling fans, it was a fantastic ending to our season but why after seeing us snatch promotion from Walsall's grasp so late in the game fans wanted to confront anyone is beyond belief.

It's always the same type of cretin that confronts the opposition in these circumstances.

You see it time and again the first thing in the simple people's minds is not to celebrate but to get a phone and stick it in someone's face for a reaction.

Mcburnie had it right stamping on the lad that hit sharp, it will only be matter of time before that happens again, and wrongly it will be the player that is punished

Agree, social media certainly has a lot to answer for, I don't get why fans take time out to log onto a forum of opposition teams and read what they are saying about us, they know the vast majority of posts will hardly be complementary who cares if Walsall fans were giving it large when they were top and clear by 10 points, in one season they have witnessed both the highs and lows of what it means to an ordinary Joe who supports their local team yet have no impact on how their club is run but even more so what happens on the pitch, football fan's eh ;).
