Disagree. He was almost forced out in Jan and suddenly behind Leigh and Lapslie in the pecking order. He gave his all when called upon. Unfortunately he fell out of favour.

 

He has played enough times to justify a new contract for me. Maybe not on the terms he is on but that would be up to him to decide what his worth is.
All I know is that I would much prefer to have a Jamie Walker as a backup than a Clarke Odour.
We aren't realistically going to replace the whole squad, so surely what we should be aiming to do is improve the first team and also improve the backup, which we would do by retaining the better players we have had this season.

Again, though, if that's what Jamie Walker is like when he's feeling disenfranchised, hell, I'd like a squad of 25 players with the spirit of Jamie Walker next season. Doesn't even matter if you upset them, they're gonna run through brick walls for you.

I don't think he wanted away at all. I think he desperately wanted to stay but not on the reduced deal he was offered.

 

Saying Jamie Walkers heart hasn't been in it has to be one of the daftest things i've read on here for a long time. I must have been dreaming the celebrations i saw in front of me at Birmingham after Bobby Pointon scored.

 

GA is telling the players today. Reckon we may get the list around 5pm but most likely first thing tomorrow.

 

His attitude has been first class throughout his time with us.
I think injuries, which are inevitable the way he plays and his age has led to a slight dip, which meant he was never going to be a first choice starter, especially in League 1. At this stage of his career I doubt he'd want to be a bit part player so a move now is probably best for all.
He'll be an excellent acquisition for a side like Harrogate and should he ever return, he'll be guaranteed an excellent reception.

 

Granted it might be because he's played less minutes, but I don't think he's been injured at all this season. Featured in 35 games overall and on the bench a few times as an unused sub.

 

That's fair, but in his previous 2 seasons when he was pretty much a first choice when fit, I think he missed close to half of each of those seasons.

 

Played 30 league games last season, scored 8 goals. So only 16 games he didn't feature in.

 

That stat surprised me to be honest as I thought he'd missed more than that. I think for the last 2 seasons he was seen as an integral part of the team so when he was injured, his absence had much more of an impact.

Decent salary yes, heart not in it……can’t agree at all.

 

Imagine defending players like Oliver and Oduor for two years, then questioning Jamie Walker's heart. Sorry, I can't get my head around that, it's like some want us to be the covid version of Bradford City with weak failures at the club.

 

I think you're largely alone on this one!
On a wider picture one thing is vital if we are to continue progressing - we obviously have a lot of affection for the players who gained promotion but the powers that be have to take emotion out of their decisions on who can really make the step up to a higher division.
I am hoping the extended celebrations in Ibiza was to make sure everyone could celebrate our achievement together but in many ways that is now gone - yes we should have momentum but in the cold light of day many of the lads were (and are) League 2 footballers
