Is it really that bad?

Many on here said we wouldn't make top 7 never mind top 3 so most should be overjoyed.

 

I agree, but it has been said many times on here and by others at the ground on match days

Absolutely , I do see your point however, but it’s something I wouldn’t consider . Win lose or draw it’s still the anniversary.

 

Well pre Christmas, it certainly looked that way
Just a shame that injuries an the odd bit of I’ll discipline has held us back this past month or so
Everyone fit and firing , I am convinced we would have won the league

Thats before the season judged on 7 years of failure. Go back 6 games ago we could literally taste league 1. The points tally in those last 6 games, Doncaster 14 points, Vale 13 points, us 5 points. Walsall 4, Dons 6. The old cliche of being offered 3rd last game to go bit your hands off scenario rings true because of our past but if we do blow it Saturday the feeling of what could have been will be prevalent. Fair play to Vale and Donny two teams with the biggest balls in league 2, the rest have bottled it to a large extent. Lets hope the last 6 games are a distant memory come 4.45pm on Saturday.

 

Top post, was thinking this myself and really i shouldn't ever link the two. Enough pressure as it without adding an emotion unfair on the players. First and foremost this squad of players performs for themselves on Saturday, not for something that happened 40 years ago.

 

We've had a very good season overall, it's the bigger picture and goal of automatic promotion which will be what we all remember

 

Bumblish bee we are very very lucky to be were we are. I am not sure we would win a play off. And when or if we do go up we need 5 mil player investment to stay up… if your happy with our campaign brilliant. We have in house and out tried to bugggerrrr it up. We go again …..

 

Having the midfield out mainly altogether set the rot in. Slowly they have returned and Sarcevic is obviously playing with injury I still think Bobby is also troubled because his performances have tailed right off. And Pattison has also been inconsistent since he returned from his appendix operation.

 

Well Saturday is potentially the last match
Get the job done, then rest up and go again next season, hopefully in league one

As a side issue, I suppose it's a question for Fordy really. This bug/illness that's been going through the squad, could it have anything to do with the fact we "train at a school". You know what kids are like for spreading bugs.

I think we will make it but our points haul will make us one of the poorest ever to achieve automatic and reflects on the other teams. How many times have we shot ourselves in the foot and how does our indiscipline compare to previous seasons? The last 4 games highlighted how Smallwood has protected our back line and we certainly have to wonder how many of our squad can fare in L1. Our ST sales and the sponsorships and advertising receipts they will attract as well as merchandise sales should mean that income is available to reinvest but how many of the squad that will not be good enough will be tied and preventing that?

 

Pre Xmas and after the Notts County game i would have said this lot where nsiled on for a midtale finish but what has gone on since that shambles have restored a lot of fsith in the club ..............and lets be right after the meadow lane shambles who would have thought that come the last game we would be playing in front of 24k to win our place back in league one ??????

And lets be right over the last 6 weeks lady luck has shit on us injury wise had we gone into the last 6 weeks with a fully fit squad the title would have been wrapped up a while ago.

Just enjoy the week because come 3pm.Saturday the final ride on the emotional rollercoaster will hopefully be our last one at this level

 

I’ve seen the low points total thing mentioned a lot. Yes, it def makes us poorer than say the 3 who went up via autos last season. We’ve been far too inconsistent when it’s really mattered at the business end. Then again, could equally argue teams across the division are possibly better than last season?

Don’t think anyone is under any illusion that this summer, if we do go up, must be transformative in terms of the squad. Ideally we’d have a bulk of the squad who could step up no problem, but we probably don’t.

Either way, who cares if our points total is low? We’re obv not anywhere close to being the best team L2 has ever seen, so not sure why the points total matters so much. The (P) next to our name that hopefully appears at 4:45 on Sat, does. If we need an inquest about the trials & tribulations of the last 8 games or so, do it then if we must.

 

All perfectly understandable. Bobby is probably struggling big style. Just one to go , ditto Pattison.
