Big test of whether Stefan will be true to his word of 'investing'. No half measures, we need a quality replacement - and we needed one more quality player anyway.

 

That could well be him done to be honest. Looking at players in their 30s who have cruciate surgery, not only does it take about a year to get back to fitness but also they are rarely the same player after. He wont kick a ball again until he's gone 35 without some miracle healing taking place.

 

Tough ask, but he's very strong mentally and he's never relied on pace. So they're both factors in his favour.

Feel really sorry for the guy and for us.
The one silver lining is that it has happened now and not in Feb, when we could not replace him.

How many goals away was he from breaking 2nd places record in the all time scorers list? Was it about 10-15ish? It felt like he'd have a real shot at doing it this season with the rate he was putting them away. Fingers crossed all goes really well and we see him about this time next year to have a role in his final 6 months of his deal.

 

Despite how well we played without him against Grimsby, that's a huge blow to our chances of promotion this season.

Hopefully Mellon and a more experienced striker to come in. Down to Herr Rupp now to get that chequebook out

 

Sad news but not unexpected,hope he comes back next season though it will probably be at least October time before we see him play again.

I've had my ACL reconstructed twice and it's a long road back but with the right support around him he can do it.

 

2 Forwards as someone mentioned earlier . Maybe one perm plus one loanee . I hope Mellon is the permanent one ?

Really feel for Cookie as he works tirelessly to keep fit and is also integral to our team, both defensively & offensively

The news we were all expecting but secretly hoping wouldn't come. Absolutely devastated for Cooky. I hope the rest of the squad have it in them to get the job done without him but also for him, because he deserves a promotion more than any of them.

Gutted for him and wishing him a speedy recovery. Harsh as it sounds, we must move on. The team did well without him last saturday, and we must keep up the tempo. We do need more cover though in the January transfer window more than ever now. Oliver is garbage, and Sanderson has failed to make any real impact
