We keep banging on about Rupp selling the club to enable us to progress. Carlisle sold to wealthy Americans who invested £4.8 million in their first seven months of ownership. Where are Carlisle now?
Will new ownership guarantee us success as many hope?

Of course if new money comes in and is significant then over time it increases the chances of success. And .if people came here wanting to buy the club and put real money in then of course that would be more than welcome.
But past experience shows that any takeover will be continue doing business as usual and if by some stroke of luck that was to change then I am sure Rupp would sell.

It won't guarantee anything, there has to be a base of knowledge and expertise before you get success.

We've been waiting years for that to come to VP and all our eggs in the David Sharpe basket.

Carlisle, at least, are looking for a quality Sporting Director. They have been way quicker at identifying what they don't have.

You quote Carlisle as a club with investment as having failed (at the moment)
Why not quote Wrexham as a club who have had investment and progressed (different circumstances I accept)
Theres no guarantees in football but Carlisle owners are at least interested in the club !!! they have invested not just empty pledges
Anyone content with Mr Rupp taking us from the brink of the championship to L2 mainstays needs to give their head a wobble maybe it's the fear of change
Yes it can go either way and in our case we need a complete change of hierarchy before progressing
Could you see Mr Rupp investing enough to keep us in L1 should we ever get there ??
Our current squad and recruitment team certainly aren't capable
Don't go down and don't go bust or new owners with cash ambition and an interest in the club, your choice

Didn't they agree terms with the one from MK Dons and then he gave back word, hence why they are now trying to identify a new one?

Il bet any money that Carlise will reach the championship before us. Yes they may go backwards to move forwards but they’ll get there.

I am 34 and resigned to the fact il never in my lifetime see city again in the championship. The gap financially is too big.

That's a bold statement. When I was 34, never would I have thought we would play in the Premier League, yet 5 years later we did.

I don't believe we will ever get back to the Championship under the current ownership, however, things change.

Why use Carlisle as the example?

Where are Stockport now? Wrexham? Stevenage?

It's not just about ownership, it's about investement, ambition, capability, leadership.

And as for where Carlisle are, right now they're in the same sh*t hole league as we are, and have much more recently had a promotion.

There is absolutely nothing about this ownership and regime to cite other than failure, regression, and incompetence.

On a positive note I would love to know how the on going negotiations to buy the ground back are processing.

I obviously used Carlisle as an example of new ownership isn't a guarantee. They got promoted before the new owners bought the club and have gone backwards since. Things can change, I accept.

Some choosing to hold certain clubs ownership to scrutiny while we have Rupp sure does have delicious sense of irony to it. Lets take Carlisle, in the short term they are struggling with an early change of manager but long term the club has made significant ground developments such as a full fit out of the main stand for corporate and are starting new training facilities. All things that give the club a better outlook in the long term. We are in no position as a club to lecture others on how their club is run.

Yet Crawley - whose owners were ridiculed as basket cases by our fans - have left us for dust, as have many other teams

    Funny how things turn out

Our fans are about as fickle with owners as they are with players.

I'll take that bet and if I am still around I will pay out in the unlikely event that you are correct in your prediction. For the record I am 67 and back in 1970 couldn't see many things happening that have occurred over the last 54 years. I certainly wouldn't make such a bold statement, who knows what is around the corner.

    Aye lol

It will be interesting to see how they progress. If they go down they go down, maybe they just have bad owners like we do!

Far different era mate and a man at the top who was happy to take risks (with other peoples money by the way) but Richmond recognised the then League One was not the strongest and he rightly gambled we could reach the Premiership with a little more quality adding to the squad both Kamara and then Jewell had brought together.
I accept you can never say never but it would have to be something beyond our wildest dreams to believe someone with more money than sense could get a return from Bradford City Football Club and make our club into one that could even be average never mind challenging the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United or Arsenal.
Where could we get a new ground with quality training facilities within the Bradford boundary, baring in mind IMO to be a top club upward of 60,000+ home attendances would be required I honestly can't see that sort of pulling power the way Bradford's demographics are going (that not a pun but a fact).

I could be watching from above by the time Bradford City Football Club are once again challenging for a place in the Championship never mind the Premiership (thanks for that Stefan Rupp) but as long as I can make it to games I'll be right behind the 11 who pull on the Claret & Amber as I did 65 years ago I always hoped my club would someday rise above the Third Division which I believe it was then, always the optimist mate never give up on your dreams.

Recent history suggests there are no guarantees' nor any quick fixes.

At best we can aspire to be a lower end Championship club. Just look at the money sloshing around in the Championship-we will never be able to compete with those numbers any more.

On hold while we wait to see if Nick Kitchen and Manny can scrape together a few million to buy it first.
