Bit worrying that Young hasn't scored in preseason.

I'm not sure what's up with that really.

Really does feel a bit like the Eoin Doyle scenario, but god knows why that would be the case?

Cook seemed to have a good preseason, and I'm excited for Kav. Oliver actually did score, so that's something at least.

But yeah, Young... fingers crossed it works out, if he gets scoring he might not stop. IF.

Trouble is Jon, if he doesn’t get on the field, he can’t possibly score. I’m really not sure what’s going on there either.

Edit: just seen on T&A that there is reported League1 interest. Must be Stevenage (as mentioned here earlier).

I agree that the feeling for me is that we might take a few games to get going. Maybe GA has planned to have different personnel in the squad and with the unwanted ones still around, he hasn't been able to bring in who he really wants. It might be that once Young is sold, then we'll see a couple of players come in. Unless he addresses the lack of creativity and goals scored, I fear another mediocre season because the defense doesn't look strong enough to keep a clean sheet.

You clearly haven't been watching other pre season results from L2 clubs. It all counts for nothing.

Well we will soon find out as MK should be one of the contenders. Last season there, we were dreadful so hopefully we see a much improved competitive side to take them on and give them a run for their money.

That makes sense then, clearly they're pushing for a sale.

Don't think it will be a big fee, but the whole lot should be available to reinvest. Realistically Young will have been for sale all along, as well as a few others. Ship him out and look for another prospect.

    Agreed.
I've seen us look great in pre season and gash in opening months of the league and then the reverse.
Remember us losing at Guiseley when in the 3rd tier only for us to have two 6-0 wins in league and cup in the same week in the opening month.

The summer transfer window has a habit of throwing up last minute surprises.
Once again there appears to be some business to be done but as always nothing straight forward at Bradford watch this space.

Aye well, with thousands of years of history, people will always find a time something happened and make it fit a narrative of something else.

GA also says Young picked up a niggle about 10 days ago so they've been managing that. No mention of it before now though, but we were told Oduor was feeling sore before the Sunderland game and wouldn't feature. The club really don't do themselves any favours.

There is plenty of examples of results with other teams just this season Notts county lost at Boston Gillingham drew with a national league team nobody is going to bust a gut the week before the first match. We don’t have long to wait to get an idea let’s see where we are after the first 10 matches rather than a friendly fixture the week before

On top of that, smaller clubs tend to try a little harder than the bigger ones. I remember going to 4th tier Donny when we were 2nd tier and their centre back Darren Moore kicked lumps out of us.

By ten matches the season before last, Leyton Orient had won 9 and drawn 1 and built a lead that gave them a buffer they never lost throughout the whole season.

The old "let's see where we are after 10 games" is a myth. Need to start well.

I used to have that opinion of waiting 10 games, but multiple poor starts and failed promotions, leads me to the conclusion that a good fast start is essential for building momentum and crucially confidence in the squad.

It's not a complete myth but, yes, a good start helps enormously and creates momentum. Last season which was fairly typical, saw the 3 teams who were promoted automatically in 5th, 8th & 9th positions after match 10. At that point, we were 13th. It's unusual for a team which has a bad start to be able to come back from such a start and get automatic promotion.
