If we had one Odsal would have been up by now or decades ago the odeon wouldnt have take 20 years or so to do up and downtown Bradford wouldnt be a ghetto.

 

Got yourself a cracking player in Sarce. Your biggest problem with him will be keeping him fit. He's had a few spells out over the last couple of seasons but if he's fit & firing on all cylinders there's not many better at league 2 level. I hope he's a success for you

I have absolutely no idea. I was just using BPA as a random example. But I am sure there will be other facilities in the region that piss all over woodhouse grove which we have more control over?

 

At woodhouse grove there is grass pitches artificial pitches gym facilities and even a swimming pool. Have you seen Horsfall.
Of course owning our training ground would be ideal maybe instead of wasting all the premiership money on has been and over payed players and building a stadium to big for our needs we should have spent the money in that area

 

This sums up some people's stupidity. There are plenty on here who would want us the own a sub standard facility rather than rent the top quality one we have, just to satisfy their idiotic need to conform to the British ethos of owning property.

I’m not aware of any such facilities in our area. How far away would you have us train in order to get better than the excellent facilities at Woodhouse Grove?

 

How TF would I know?? What a stupid question to ask. Off the top of my head, somewhere like Grange school? Maybe, maybe not. I have no idea, as I said in the post you replied to, yet you basically asked me the same question(!). Also what makes you an expert on how excellent WHG is? Have you been inside? Do you know how much it costs us? Are we at risk of getting kicked off sometimes to suit the owners? This is why we need to own our own facilities IMO, so we are in charge of our own destiny and can’t be asked to leave half way through an important training session - which happened recently

Ex-pro’s have condemned the fact we still train there after years and years of regression, yet nothing changes. But no I won’t listen to a pro who has been there and done it, I’ll listen to Offcumdun, resident bantamtalk keyboard warrior!

Why is it a stupid question to ask? If you are saying we should move to better facilities in the area, I think it's fair to assume you must know which and where these facilities are.

In terms of WHG, I would imagine Offcumdun is basing his opinion on what he's seen of it on club videos compared to videos of other clubs facilities. I've watched a fair few at this level and league 1 and imo, WHG looks to be much better than many and as good as some of the better ones.

No idea how much it costs so can't comment on that and as for the getting kicked off, I might be wrong about this but I believe that was a Saturday when our game got called off and GA wanted to hold a training session there but couldn't because the pitch was booked out. Some contingency planning around that is probably needed but it isn't a major problem.

I'd be careful giving too much credence to what the players and managers that have been critical of the facilities have had to say when it's the likes of Evans and Grayson. There are plenty of much better players and managers that haven't had any complaints and I remember that loan goalkeeper we got from Portsmouth a couple of seasons ago waxing lyrical about them and saying they were better than pompey's facilities.

There are lots of things wrong with this club and how it is run but WHG is the least of our problems. I'm all for calling things out that need calling out but I have yet to see any credible evidence that a) other clubs at this level and above have better training facilities than we do and b) there are better facilities in West Yorkshire that are available and that would improve what we have now.

 

If we are safe in our tenancy, and the terms suit us, then no, we really don't need to own our own which would very likely be below the WHG standard. Ownership of a training ground does not define a club and will not have the slightest bearing on a player signing, but the standard of it will.

We could probably buy somewhere like Manningham Mills if we wanted to, but it would cost millions to develop to the same standard as the facilities at a fee paying school.

Our requirement is to have a high standard of facility for our first team squad to train at, WHG fits that bill and nowhere else in the Bradford Met area (apart from maybe BGS or Ilkley Grammar) would. I'm sure @wetherbywhaler could enlighten us to the cost, but frankly it's none of our business.

The whole "we train at a school" thing is a kipper being used to beat the club without validation or reason by people who are obsessed with being "asset rich".

Owning the ground is a million times more important.
