Yet league 2 is the only number, as fans, we care about.

Indeed. There’s a lot of good talk about the commercial performance of the club, which is to be commended. But its all very ‘glass half full’. The talk has been good since Sparks took the role to be fair, but its action and performance on the pitch that counts. Reference to ‘lots of drama at VP’ is somewhat churlish. The majority of that drama favoured our opponents. The level of excitement and entertainment factor has been low all season at home and simply put, it needs better quality players to make the difference. With our supposed commercial power and with a rich owner, there should be no reason why we can’t build a top 3 squad.

On the ‘new products’ side, the lack of digital content surprises me. For example, we had a genuinely exciting and entertaining period during the late 80s and most of the 90s. Take the promotion winning season in 98/99 - surely there’s a way of digitising the highlights of that season and make it available to stream for a charge. I’d pay it and I’m sure I’m not alone. I’d love to rewatch some of the stuff from the late 80s again and the content surely exists. Stuff like that feels like a missed trick. Especially now its post-season, give people some content to keep their interest.

Yeah that's fair enough. I just think the club could combine this with player interviews and behind the scenes stuff. Professionalise the content etc.

 

A bit off tangent but will someone at the club learn how to edit and use camera shots properly. Does my head in how they keep cutting to other cameras while doing interviews.
As for Sparks he's done a very good job with the commercial department, amazing that the club actually has things like sales targets these days, shows how bad we were under previous ownership regimes. I don't mind the odd interview from him like this, spoke a lot of common sense.

 

Sparks has been brilliant specially as it seems Rupp is quite hands off,I think sparks is perfect guy for the job

Reading the truly awful happenings at Wigan again with ownership issues. And am thinking what we have been “through”over the last 5 years according to Ryan that bad? Or is it the club over egging the pudding for what’s been a balls up in terms of management.

and still with all the shit Wigan are going through I bet my bottom dollar they get to championship before us. Said it about Bolton when they were literally minutes from going out of business. I just don’t get how why can not recover or like Wetherby whaler says need 5 years.

All that commercial uplift discussed in the video, yet we still seem to not be able to fully compete.

 

Bolton got a young manager in and stuck with him even when they were struggling, first sign of trouble we've got a vocal section of the fanbase who turn on the manager and usually they are sacked quite soon. If Ian Evatt was our manager and he was 19th around February time he would have been sacked long before.

 

Bolton fans turned on Evatt but he was never in danger of sack. He had a poor start but results started to pick up in November (bar in mind season started in September that year).

 

Started watching this and literally fell asleep half way through. Hear the same thing every year.
