Just when he’s coming back to top form. He was just gliding past their midfield, especially in the first half. A great performance!

 

I'm gonna say it...I think that all round performance last night was championship level.....they all wanted to be there, they all grafted throughout, we outnumbered them in their own half many times, if Cookies scissor kick had gone in (and it wasn't far off) then wow... although Costelloe's shooting is weak he was up there with the rest of them and found myself looking forward to him getting the ball...oh if it weren't for Rochdale ,Barrow and a different ref for the Swindon match we would be sat comfortably in 2nd place ....

Definitely. Is there a cautionery thought in Hughes interview, in which he states "you have to be careful with those things".....

What does Neil Harris know about strikers .

 

Can't really legislate for kicks and such but it was mentioned upon his signing, particularly from hearts fans, that he was a great player however really difficult to keep fit.

I wouldn't want to take that edge from his game, but I think he needs managing better for his own benefit. He doesn't seem to pace his game very well. He is all out from minute one chasing around, pressing and demanding the ball but you do see a noticeable dip in energy from the hour to seventy minute mark and invariably he does go off as pushing beyond that will likely lead to injury.

I wonder what the best approach is really, let him carry on as is and just get 70 mins every week or try control him earlier on to get a full 90

 

It is nice to know the players are on the same wavelength as the fans. Smallwood gave an interview last night; he said he wasn’t happy as we are not where we want to be and they are thinking great for the three points but onto the next one at home.

 

His forte is driving forward at pace, Sutton with skill! 70 mins is enough.

 

Great game hard to add to what has already been said previously, when we went to 5 at the back they didn’t get a sniff. I was pleased we were able to frustrate them all night as well, truly a perfect away display.

 

In a few more words,but I got the gist right.

 

He needs to start every game for me.
If he only lasts 70 minutes for some of them,so be it.
We are a completely different attacking force when he plays and he will do more in those 70 minutes than some others will do in 2 or 3 games combined.
I know we risk him getting the odd injury but I think it’s a risk worth taking.

 

both tackles were horrendous

 

Both Dincasrer and Gillingham targetted Walker as a danger and clattered him many times.
Great player, too good by far for League 2.

 

Walker dishes it out and takes it back. Great player with a old school attitude. Made a massive difference to our play since coming back

 

Would have torn your hand off for a point but that last night was outstanding just please let’s go out and beat Colchester

That last paragraph is spot on. I thought the same about Clayton freeing up Smallwood. You wouldn’t have seen him anywhere near the penalty area like we have in the last two games prior to Clayton. A goal last night and a rasping shot well saved by the keeper at Donny a case in point.

 

Trust me Dave the Southern contingent more than made up the numbers!

 

He was sensational last night and completely transformed the whole side. What a loss he was to us when he got injured. And to lose a possible alternative in Osadebe too was very unfortunate to say the least.
