Sick as a parrot here. I've disliked Argentina since the '66 World Cup and never forgiven them for the Hand of God. It's doubly annoying that they didn't face a single decent team until the final and then France failed to turn up for the first 80 minutes.

Going to keep away from the football media for a bit in case the non-stop Messi worship makes me nauseous.

 

Personally for me glad it was Argentina, france singing our goal music after the match and mbappe celebrating kane missing the pen did it for me.

Also france winning would have made me thought we could win it too…

 

That'll wipe that smug feckin grin from Mbappes face......W#nker!

Same here. How any English fan can be pleased to see Argentina win it is literally beyond me.

 

I told one of my classes I was expecting Argentina to win on pens after a 4-4 final score. Wasn’t too far off but I wanted France to win. Mind you, they were bloody awful for the first 75 minutes or so.

 

Great game of football, best I’ve ever seen in a final which tbh are usually crap affairs.

Shame the both couldn’t lose though as above! Best team won on the day.

 

They can sing f… the British all they want….. number one song in their country. Nice but remember you invaded us first boys. And Maradona is a cheat. So I wanted the ref to win.

 

I'm happy for Messi personally, but I can see this narrative enduring for a long time!

 

Whatever, it was a dam good enjoyable game

 

One thing that does gall me, refs are frightened to book him. Pull back fouls and handballs others in the same team get yellows for he doesn’t. FIFA and its leadership remain corrupt.

 

Otamendi deserved his medal for turning a routine win into a great last 50 minutes. He sparked France into action. Before then Mbappe was average at best.

 

Holding grudges for decades simply can’t be good for your health or happiness.

Well done Argentina, the best team won the tournament.

 

I don't think they were the best team but they certainly had a will to win that was unmatched by many teams and they definitely deserved it in the end.

 

What on Earth France thought they were doing , their tactics and formation for 75 mins was Sunday football stuff.

France’s right back gave Argentinas left winger the freedom of Arabia. The lad that looks like Crichlow was awful, yet stayed on the field.

France’s wonder kid was hemmed in on the left and nullified by two or three on him every time he got the ball in the first 3/4’s. If I was his manager I’d be saying play the no 10 role and have the freedom of the pitch. Much harder to mark !
