December: Things Could Look Better Before The Window

    3 of the next 4 games are against poor sides at the bottom of the table.

    Gillingham Away (23rd)
    Rochdale Home (21st)
    Carlisle Away (5th)
    Harrogate Home (20th)

    I know we're all gutted by the last two performances, but this is actually a pretty good chance for us... Gillo, 'Dale and Harrogate are all awful - the pressure is on to get a full 9 points, plus something at Carlisle.

    I wonder... if we can do that, how will we feel heading into January?

    To add from other post.

    Both Gillingham and Rochdale in bottom 4 and both lowest scorers in the league. Gillingham haven't scored a goal in the last 6 league games, since 22nd October and have scored 6 goals all season in 20 games.

    Massive two games, in our quest to stay in the play off place s.

    The only manager in recent memory that didn't lose there was Bowyer.

    But the draw he got there was also his death knell lol

    As boring as Bowyer was sacking a manager in the playoffs is a mistake, although some want to repeat the trick now so…

    Wouldn't even consider Hughes' position unless we fell to 14th or something.

    And even then, not sure I'd go for it this season.

    We can’t replace him. He needs two seasons. Yes we all want to go up this but we have to face reality. We just cannot afford both in terms of players and reputation to dumping managers every 6/10 months who then want to play their own style.

    Only he and the board know what was discussed in terms of ambition both this season and next.

    We played Harrogate some weeks back at home in the FA cup,we were awful.

    Rochdale losing 4-1 at home to Harrogate. When we play Rochdale at home, it will be 3 months to the day since we last won at home (Stevenage).

    Yeah I'm glad to not have seen the usual meltdown on here, we have just played against the top teams. Do think we are a play off side this year. We do have to bare in mind we were 14th last year so to improve so much is a positive of itself. Hopefully redemption beckons next Saturday.

    No need to panic.
    The league is very inconsistent below the top 2.
    It's no surprise that those top 2 teams have managers who've done it before.
    To lose twice and still be 6 points off 3rd and still in the top 7 shows that if this is just a blip which I believe it is, then 2 wins before Christmas puts us right back on track.
