We were by far the better team in the second half. Would have won the game easily with a bit of quality up front.

We're just lacking in quality. You can see a way of playing thats evolving, its better to watch. Never really thought we'd score though.

If only City had a striker who could hold up the ball.

How would we have felt about that game if Adams had still been in charge?

Never would have happened. Adams plays dire, negative football.

Another promotion chasing side I thought were average at best going down every time they didn't get the ball in a challenge, you'd have though they'd have upped their game when they started to press the last 10 minutes but they didn't seem interested in trying to take the corners etc quickly, looks like they were happy with a point.

Same issues in that we need more options up front - relying on Cook on his own every single week isn't where it's at. Can't criticise him today, mind, but it wasn't his evening.

MOTM Hendrie? How he didn't get an assist I will never know, started off most of our chances second half.

Good tempo, dealt with the Newport pressure a lot better than we did last Saturday when Port Vale did a number on us.

Decent performance, no doubt all minds on next season now as this one is all but done - important we finish on a high though.

I thought we played some good stuff today and barely give Newport a sniff. It's just a shame we are so toothless up front.

I thought Songo'o had his best game in a City shirt today.

Pereira showed some classy silky touches, shame about his end product though.

Walker should have buried the best chance of the match that fell our way.

Roll on summer now, will be interesting to see who Hughes brings in and also releases

Lord Luton. Thank you! First time I’ve actually almost got off my sofa in a fit of excitement this season!

I never want to see Evans and Gilliead in a City side again.
Woeful, offer absolutely zero in terms of offence or defence.

Enjoyable game of football. Lack of a cutting edge ultimately cost us the win but won't get complaints from me if we try and play football.

You're right, but I think I would have picked Hendrie.

Didn't really notice Songo'o too much, which is a good thing.

He seems to get random MOTM a lot.

Seemed just like almost all our home games this season. Loads of huff and puff, hardly any chances. I'm not knocking Hughes at all, but I suspect Adams would have got a lot of stick if he'd still been here. The players are the same and we need to really clear the decks in the summer.

I think considering the amount of players out of contract in the summer, it's happening. Hughes needs to bring his own men in to play his way of playing. Fair play for him getting a tune out of this mediocre lot, and here's to next season when he's got the team he wants. Until then, he can only make do with what he's been given.

hes looked lively a couple of games now, a shame he missed so much through injury. Looks after the ball well, good technically and stronger than he looks

Thought the team in the first half was unbalanced. Too many of the same ball players but nobody to run in behind or drive the ball forwards. Fullbacks need to provide width in an attacking sense when the midfield is narrow as it was today but the game highlighted that Foulds and Hendrie are very much defensive minded. Both need to be upgraded on in the summer.

No surprise that we were much better when Pereira and Vernam came on and we really started to push Newport backwards.

Generally a promising performance, night and day to the shite Adams came up with.

I enjoyed the match, thought we played well at the start of the 1st half and for most of the second half. Yes of course Adams would have had a deserved kicking from the fans as he recruited. There is no escaping that simple fact. He failed miserably to get a striker who actually can put it in the net. He must have recruited like you would pick and mix at Woollies. No idea what he was going to do with them though.

I can watch a game like that, there is endeavour and most of the players knows what they are doing. We only have Cook as a striker that can score, but he is slow and cannot hold the ball up and needs another striker he can play off. Given we have several strikers who can’t score we are always going to struggle.
