Bradford City can confirm the 33-year-old goalkeeper was offered a new 2-year deal, however, an agreement could not be reached.
Colin was initially handed a 2-year contract with City back in 2016, which allowed him to move his family to move closer to the club.

In May, an offer was made to stay a further 2-years at The Northern Commercials Stadium under the same conditions as his previous contract, however an agreement could not be reached.

Greg Abbott expressed his disappointment that a deal could not be reached with Colin on this occasion, explaining how the contract negotiations took place:

“In situations like this, we make an offer to the player which we believe to be realistic. At that point, a player’s agent will come back with their offer. This is exactly what we’ve done with Colin.”

“When an agent does comes back with a counter offer, if the club considers it unrealistic we all try and find a compromise. In some instances we can end up being too far apart and we just can't close the gap. When that happens, the club and the player have to make a decision”

“Ultimately, both parties have to do what they think is best. We offered Colin a contract and hoped we could reach an agreement. Sometimes you can’t get to an agreement, and in those instances it can be difficult.”

City co-owner Edin Rahic thanks Colin for his service to the club, commenting:

“Colin has been very professional whilst he's been here and despite him being injured for parts of last season, he performed well when we needed him.”

“Off the field, we all have the utmost respect for him and his wife.

"We thank him for everything he’s done for us and he has been a great servant to the club.”

Forget about Doyle, once our new 4th Tier German Stopper joins, Oliver Kahnt, you'll be saying who's Colin Doyle.

It's well known that most people don't like change and that includes football fans. Whether it's for the good or bad you will always find the ones that will be as negative as f&@k even when it's for the good,so I'm not at all surprised at the reactions on social media sites. Once the changes have been made the grumbles will still carry on until they finally disappear and they will find something else to complain about.

I'd suggest for many of those fans you mention above their opinions will change once they see results improving on the pitch, until then I don't see how anyone can criticise them, their criticism since December has been justified IMO, we've heard the talk now lets see players, coaches and owners walk the walk, if the comments regarding season ticket sales being around or just over 15,000 are correct the fans have once again done their bit.

I'm looking forward to all the apologies from those who once again decided it was all Edin's fault and we hadn't made him an offer or had offered peanuts without bothering to wait for a club statement. But I suppose those posters will still believe Doyle's wife rather than the club.

Disagree. Love the way this 'weekend' quote is been used against the board, when the reality is that they realised at the weekend that the solution was in front of them. But let's say you're correct. Who was "their man"? They clearly made no great effort with Grayson, i.e. they wanted him but on their terms. Who's these others? Where are they now? If they were so great, that Edin's lost on out on them - then they'd have been swept up by other clubs. Never ceases to amaze me why fans think we should have to bend over and take it, when it comes to Manager's demands. The board basically have so no - you're not as good as you think you are / we want things in a certain way and tell them they won't change and yet for some reason this seen as weak. The times we've gone for a marquee manager, Robson, Todd, Yorath, Taylor - they've really worked out haven't they? The one time the board was condemned, was for -yes you've guessed it Paul Jewell. Yet despite clear evidence that a 'name' means nowt - you and others persist in implying that it does

There are more clubs doing it this way than you think. Both Derby and QPR are now doing it. They've seen how successful the likes of Brentford, Burnley and Huddersfield have been in terms of not spending much beyond their means. Note, the economies of scale means that these clubs look like they spend a lot - but in comparison to some of their illustrious peers, they haven't. It's now the Villa's that have got the problem. Why do you think the club will be run into the ground? He doesn't do what you and lots of others would do, so because it goes against what you want you then use the lazy - he doesn't know what he's doing. Was Wyke one of these bad decisions? I assume you've given up on Reeves, McCartan etc? Of course, just like Liverpool fans did with Henderson after his first season and look how idiotic that now looks - again relative to the quality that clubs like that have invested in we're doing at L1 level. What's your alternative - spend it all on wages and on experienced players and then the club gets nothing back long term. It's an impossible model for a team that has spend more than ten years away from the top 2 tables. Go do some research and see how others like I've mentioned are stopping hiring the likes of the Rednapp's and spending a fortune - instead they want their talent nurturing, developing and yes selling - then reinvest and improve

And this is really what upsets you and 90% of the other critics. You wanted a sugar daddy, a Jack Walker to finance us - sod the money they lose, get investing in us. The naivety is laughable. You've got MK Dons, Swindon and Charlton all spending a fortune in recent seasons - two are now in L2, the other is struggling to get an owner. Of course we should have kept up financially with Blackburn and Wigan (who between them had spent about one season of the past twenty in the higher division). What ridiculous lack of ambition we showed in not getting the £750K Bradley Dack and paying him £11K as week. We should have offered £1.5m and paid him £20K. The problem is most fans are not businessmen and you now those to successfully run a club. Unfortunately it is that cold and dispassionate. Lawn and Rhodes rode on the back of two 'once in a lifetime' cup runs in two seasons and still had a net spent about £300K less than the current owners on players

Not certain that been in the race for a play-off place for 43 matches after a woeful injury record can be held at Rhaic's door. Ultimately, we can argue as much as we want, but it if we get lucky with injuries - as we were the season before, then the season could have ended up with us in the Top 6. But let's take the easy route and blame him.

Bradford City deny 'right to reply' vendetta
The Club has moved to dismiss supporters concerns that they need to address every rumour and debate by fans on local forums and newspaper websites. Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source at the club stated "no one knows PR better than me, I invented journalism back in the rhine valley twenty years ago, we'll make our announcements when we want to".

Well the club have or she has. You make your own mind up but I'm guessing the club have stuck by EFL rules which state an offer had to be made or he had to be put on the released list.

Ok, but this is a key role in the team, we have a lot of young lads, we now need some experience in goal. We ignore this at our peril, it is no good if the season gets going and for whatever he doesn’t perform, we wait till January!! That is exactly what happened last season

Yes of course they have to stick to the rules, but the devil is always in the detail, she is now saying that we need to wait for his agent and Colin to speak, different story! This is sounding like another Hendrie gate.
