Kurtis Guthrie

Some Vale fans are delighted with their new signing having seen the video clip of Guthrie ( presumably produced by his agent). Funny how players rarely live up to their promotional material.

 

Guthrie is a classic example of the golden rule of never signing a player that a team in your division is happy to see go.

 

24th April, hope our back four will be clued up, done their research and know who is coming at 'em.

 

It's only a good move if we sign someone who is a guaranteed starter who can chip in with goals.
What happens if we sign another duff??

 

We could replace him with a vacuum cleaner and it'd score as many goals. We'll bring in someone else, but even if we don't, he's no loss whatsoever.

 

Shouldn't be too difficult in all fairness if any new striker turns up and scores just 1 goal he is an improvement
Wonder if we will ship Donaldson out as well

Very very unlikely - to be honest if we have the Don until the summer that is not a problem for me. We are working our socks off on a new striker but unlikely to happen until early next week (so I have been told)

Covid aside, is it any coincidence that we're signing players who live - or a la Canavan - want to live locally? Guthrie never looked happy to be here. Can't be much fun living in a hotel room or flat away from your family and loved ones when you're not exactly earning Premier League wages. Wish him the best but glad he's gone. He gave us little.

You'll quickly look silly if it turns out PV offered a small fee for him, which is absolutely a possibility isn't it?

 

One man's trash is another man's treasure. It's a golden rule of football transfers. The sport would be a monstrous graveyard of broken professionals if there were no such things as transfers.

I am not writing Guthrie off as a total failure for his next side - we can only do that as a Bradford City player.

Why would we get a fee when his contract was cancelled by mutual consent?
