Well whatever people’s opinion of Ryan Sparks is he took over the club in free fall now we are unbeaten in five and have a director of recruitment and the basis of a scouting network something people on here have been calling for with siren voices.
So experienced or not good start Ryan keep it up.

You say strange question then answer it by saying 20 years isn't enough experience. So was it really that strange a question? Your dripping tap has left you exposed somewhat.

    Exposed? How’s that exactly?

This is a message board where you post rumours. Are you another one who gets offended by people posting things that they hear? Maybe a message board isn’t for you?

Theres rumours, which most take with a pinch of salt, and then statements such as your leaking taps one that Hurst had signed a contract. When I questioned this, you said that unless Hurst had signed in invisible ink it was a done deal. That didnt sound like a rumour, but a fact, which of course was incorrect

As far as being offended, a absolutely not.

That’s all I was told. All I’ve received twice when questioned was “it’s a results based business”. I asked the tap about him actually signing and like me now, they responded with “that’s what I was told”.

Reading between the lines I’d suggest either back word has been given, or one party has stalled. I really don’t believe that it was Hurst as I hear he was desperate for the job. Simon Parker also alluded to the fact that Hurst was “waiting in the wings”, so he knew it was close.

I know where the tap gets his info from (somebody I don’t know personally). I also know who else the taps source “feeds”. There are certainly a couple of influential City fans who also get drip fed. It can be good for business, put a couple of rumours out and it keeps interest high in the club. GR was a master at it. He would’ve loved this.

Fully supportive of implementing the HoR and scouting network, long overdue.

Fully supportive of the turn around and the football being played, but you have to counterweight that with the simple fact Sparks didn't really have a choice in sacking McCall (it was a matter of when, not if), and he didn't really have a choice in giving T&S temporary control.

He definitely has had a choice in extending the period of control allowed to T&S, though, and that's welcome.

Really nice to see things working out at present, but certain decisions have kind of made themselves.

But he had the choice of bringing in somebody like Hurst without being 100% convinced and I am glad he didn’t take it

I would personally have brought Hurst in as early as possible.

We are in yet another hole in the ground if we lose a few and Sparks realises he has to bring in a full time, permanent manager - and we'll have squandered YET ANOTHER transfer window by gambling on T&S.

However, as Sparks did not act in good time as I would have liked, I'm happy with T&S - but feel Sparks has avoided making a big decision by placing them in interim charge, which does exactly the opposite of what, for example, @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler had suggested earlier in the month when he suggested we avoid 'distractions' and appoint a manager well in advance of the 'next game'.

To be honest, there's only really ONE good outcome if you're Ryan Sparks - that T&S continue to win games and improve our league position. Pretty much every other possibility makes the decision to not appoint and make T&S interim managers a poor move for a variety of reasons.

And yes, I accept that appointing, say, Hurst was not guaranteed to provide success. But it would have given a proven manager the best possible opportunity to bring that success by letting him get acquainted with the squad, the club, the players, and our needs in a vital January transfer window. That chance has gone now.

We will have to agree to disagree on that. If he is not totally convinced in any of the candidates he has done the right thing and the more I see and hear from T&S the more I am convinced they will be here long term

I didnt want Hurst, nevertheless, will be interesting to see how he gets on at Grimsby, compared to Trueman & Sellars, in the coming weeks and months

Not bothered in the slightest what you post and no it does not offend me at all. All I was saying is that relaying rumours from third parties leaves you open to ridicule/criticism when they don't turn out. I thought I read that someone had put money on Hurst after reading your ITK post that Hurst was about to sign.

I'm not sure using a direct comparison to form an opinion on whether he'd have failed or succeeded here would be anywhere near accurate. There's too many variables to even begin counting.

Well yo certainly held and hold Rupp and Rhodes responsible for the club’s position you must then give credit to Ryan for the upturn in our fortunes
