    Maybe true, but we would have had no chance of staying there.

    Also if they were still owners now they would be planning on putting City into administration!

    I guess that if the club had got promoted to the Championship, then other potential owners may well have come forward, as a club at that level is a more attractive proposition?

    That is only your opinion @Silverbantam@Silverbantam, you only have to look at the likes of Burton no one would have given them a chance of staying up yet they did, I would have loved to have had the chance to be proved wrong.
    As Mark's says Rupp could have walked but he's still here and were still in business.

    He did indeed. One of the reasons he chose to sell was that he and JR couldn't afford to sustain the club in the Championship which was very honest of them. His friend Dean Hoyle had already told ML how much it was costing him to keep Town in the Championship (about £50mill over 6 years) and ML knew that wouldn't be possible at VP. Hence his line of 'we'll only sell to somebody with the means to take the club forward'! That's worked well.

    Yep. You'd have thought that with ML's and JR's business acumen that they'd have known they could sell a club newly promoted to the Championship for more than they received for a Div 1 club. It sounds like they weren't willing to back their confidence in the club's promotion prospects even with the likelihood of making more money personally.

    Don't normally defend the bloke, but it's pretty common knowledge that he didn't want to sell. Julian was the one that wanted the sale at the time.

    Reading between the lines ML seems to think Rupp will fund the club and ensure it doesn't go into admin. If we can get promoted next season then that might be the right time for Rupp to sell and move on.

    There was a series of comments at the time that they thought they had the funds to get into the championship but they would be in the same position as Barnsley and Rotherham fighting to stay up not compete

    That may be true but take Richmond out and he was a part of a team that gave us possibley the longest sustained season on season improvement certainly in my time.
    And we cant even blame him for selling to Rack & Ruin as he was not the eager partner who wanted out.
