    Not seen news of this.

Still the best keeper I have seen playing for City

Fitting that we play Swindon next week, so both clubs can remember him together

    RIP Peter

Best keeper at saving penalties we ever had, top top keeper and still fondly remembered at City to those who remember him.
    RIP Peter.

too young for me, but I hope he rests in peace. Wish I had a city supporting family to listen to tales.

Sad to hear about Peter Downsborough, he helped win the league cup final with 3rd division Swindon against Arsenal in 1969 and joined us in 1973. Was a great keeper and played until 1980, was a star of our FA cup run to the quarter finals in 1975/6 and our promotion in 1976/7. A true City great R.I.P Peter.

Well said Capt, if I remember rightly he wasnt a big goalkeeper unlike most of the beasts today but was the first City keeper I saw and a great shot stopper

RIP. I seem to remember him playing around 1979/80 just as I was starting to watch city and that he didn't wear gloves. May be my memory tricking me there.

One of my favourite City players of all time. When we were crappier than usual (which is saying something) in the mid seventies it was worth going just to see him make save after save. We usually lost but we would have been hammered without him. Wish we had a keeper like him now. RIP Legend.

Not seen or heard anything about this. Very sad news. Was the City keeper when I started watching, or at least from when I can first remember. Yes, no gloves back in the day. Great keeper. RIP.

The first "big name" city player I remember. Hope we can sort out a minutes applause for him against Swindon as this would be most appropriate.

I have no hesitation in saying that Peter Downsborough was the best goalkeeper I have ever seen playing for Bradford City and rates as one of my favourite players to pull on the claret & amber (green).

    Rest in peace Peter lad.
I started attending City games at beginning of 75/76 season and remember him fondly as one of the stalwarts of the City team. And as already mentioned he was the star of our cup run to the quarter finals of the Fa Cup that season. Great servant to the club and great memories of that era for me.
