Stephen Darby

Fantastic that Steph will honour those wedding vows if required. But as the article suggests, I wish The Lionesses the best next year and that Stephen continues in the very vain, this article promotes.

 

She sounds like a fantastic person. Well she would be if she's married to Darbs.

 

Had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of times, the first was after a game at Oldham. A couple of days later at a Board Meeting we were quizzing Phil Parkinson about her and Darbs. PP answered, "If it happens it will be a marriage made in heaven". PP was a great one for knowing about partners and relationships and this latest piece goes to show he was right and confirms what Steph is. Good luck to them both.

It's also really pleasing to hear that she says Darby is still "as good as ever".

 

So sad to read this, you both deserve better.

 

It certainly is. Read last week that he recently completed a charity sky dive - such a positive attitude and one that doesn't surprise me in the least.
On another note, does anyone know if anything is happening in respect of the charity match that was mentioned just after news of his diagnosis broke? It all seems to have gone very quiet on that front....

 

Fingers crossed that Stephen will be well enough to go with her to the tournament.

 

From what we know of Darbs I would be hugely surprised if he let her miss the opportunity of captaining the lionesses this summer whatever his situation. The fact that she'd be prepared to do this shows what a good relationship they must have.

It would be wonderful if they could win it and he was well enough to be there.

 

I don’t mean to sound churlish here, but isn’t what she’s offering to do, just marriage? Up and down the country people are making sacrifices to care for spouses and loved ones suffering from ill health. It’s the principle of marriage.

Hopefully his health holds up and she’s able to travel and take part.
