When will Beesley bag one for City?

Again I haven't said that at all so not sure why you assume I think that. It's good when there are different opinions and my view differs from others but isn't that good for healthy debates.

 

Bang on and it'll take a few games before Alexander admits he's wrong. Constantly pumping balls in the air at Beesley and having no one around him, makes him look poorer than he really is. I've said all along, having Philips/Jackson or Pointon/Swan covering marathon type distances, and playing just over the halfway line is negating our attacking prowess. The front 3 don't work as a cohesive unit regardless of which 3 you choose. The best we've seen was against Orient, but it was changed back to the less effective long ball, low clear cut chance performance we've seen most of this season. I sort of admired Powell against County for refusing to run after aimless balls in the channels. It's too easy for defenders to pump this type of ball and let them think they've done a good job. Watch most top players and they rarely give the ball away or at least give their teammate a better percentage chance of retaining it. With Beesley the odds are always stacked against him.

 

Excellent summary. Its why Philips, a technically decent player with a history of scoring from attacking midfield, currently looks lost. He's not a player like Swan or Jackson who naturally covers a lot of ground quickly. And thats what Alexander is asking for his '10s' when we revert to long balls from defence. When your lone striker is having to chase balls like a dog chasing a stick he can't be in the box at the same time?

Hopefully he soon sees what we all can see perhaps he does now but isnt quite ready to admit the forward line isn't working as @Rogered Tart says Beesley playing like a dog chasing a stick will never work

 

I gave the player a few games hoping that we would see some return on investment but I've watched him the last 3 matches and I really don't see what he offers. I can forgive his lack of scoring if we saw the hold up play, the layoffs and bullying of defenders but I see nothing.. NOTHING.

 

I cheered today when he won a throw in.

 

I saw it from preseason and first couple of games. He’s lucky to be playing in the EFL. He is just a battering ram with no real skill or talent

 

Strange how someone who has managed him in Mark Bower was saying post match once he scores he'll come good, now I'm not saying Marks right but as we saw with Humphry's Alexander is not one for changing stuff, especially when were top of the league.

 

An expensive mistake that will end up on loan somewherr.

 

Interesting that Luton fans saying that they need a target man like Bradford have! A team is more than the sum of its parts.

 

I'd play him on Tues against the Newcastle kids, try and get him off the mark. No game at the weekend to worry about so a good opportunity for him in my opinion.

Let him take the next penalty if we get one. If he scores it might start him off. But if he were not to score it would reinfore his critics

Our best penalty taker by miles, it’s madness to suggest ever letting anyone but your best take it unless you’re like 3-0 up.

 

Agree Wilsden, no messing about with the stupid jigging, just takes a stride or two back, runs up and hammers it in!!

 

It may be the only way to get him on the scoresheet as although he expends a lot of effort he looks out of his depth in general play. Having said that for the clubs sake supporters would want him to improve his goal tally

 

Strange that mate if I remember correctly the great penalty taker Charlie Rackstraw stuck them in the bottom corner, but I'm with you if a pro footballer hits the ball correctly it should be in the back of the net before the keeper moves.

Saw him a few years back in Bingley and had a good natter with him, especially his penalties!
Said he still gets to some City games also local non-league and said that he takes his little book and notes lots of talent that are there and why don't City do the same ((they probably do to be fair!)
