Theoretically, is GA going anywhere?

It was actually a really good answer he gave in the press conference.

He said as a football manager you know you’re always at risk of getting the sack, but he’s at peace with that and doesn’t think about it.

But importantly he also said ‘I don’t think about the other side of it either as that would be doing a disservice to the club’.

I see “the other side of it” meaning him leaving midway through a contract, which reading between the lines says to me it’s not even on his radar.

Plus, if you think about someone like Phil Parkinson, he left because he could see what a shitshow the club was about to come. At the moment we are about as stable as we have been for years and I’d like to think GA recognises that and realises that not only is he good for City, but City are good for him.

 

Alexander is no fool yes Preston is his club just like McCall saw city has his however that doesn't mean the grass is greener on the other side and I see Alexander as one who wouldn't just move to a club because it is in his heart but more on where that club is heading. Preston is unstable at that moment and although a takeover is on the horizon the new owners will no doubt want instant success not someone who builds from the bottom which Alexander is good at.

He knows his stock is high and rightly so but he also knows he has enough in the bank at city that there is little to no chance he would be sacked if we went on a really bad run. Unless city were to give him permission to speak to Preston i don't see him asking. Alexander comes across has the type of person who wouldn't spit his dummy out, he would just get on with the job in hand.

Sometimes I think Julian Rhodes has had some serious scaring on our fan base. Not every club owner automatically goes to a former player/manager. Pay a 6 figure fee for an employed league 1 manager, or go get one of the managers out of a job some of who have had more success than Alexander and play more the sort of football you’d associate with the championship. Sorry but don’t see it happening at all.

 

It was a very neutral answer but what was needed. I think it does show if an approach is made he is interested in a conversation but he will be professional about it which is as much as you can ask. This way he has kept all options open, he's not annoyed either side.

If I was Preston as much as you don't want to rush the appointment I would be wanting someone in by early next week at the latest to allow a new manager 2 weeks on the training ground with the majority of the players.
