Absolute classic experience on the ticketing website. Got sorted but it took me 4 attempts. FRUSTRATING!!

 

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully turning right will avoid those clutching their digital wallets at 12.30 insisting they want their allocated seat.

Trust me, there’s nothing I’d like more than to just turn up to away games and sit where I want but the reality is fans coming in waving their smartphones around is a thing yes.

 

Bear in mind tho, there could be 4-5 supporters who bought their tickets all seated together and you’ve nicked their seats, well within their rights to tell you to do one… if theres an allocated seat on your ticket use it dont nick someone elses seat!

 

Normally I would agree with you but until clubs say that this is the case and actually enforce it then there is no point in even discussing it as all that happens is if someone complains the stewards just ignore them and tell them to find somewhere to sit. It seems to happen in every away end, it is as if police and stewards are afraid of away fans and of making them sit down/stand in their allocated seat. If it was happening in the homeend there would be clamp downs on it.

As @Loyalbantam says the clubs do not help the fact by releasing tickets block by block with the best seats not always released first.

 

Plus the points system exacerbates the situation. Me and my 2 lads were in different points brackets for the Wednesday game but the 3 of us managed to get tickets but were allocated in different blocks. Am I going to sit somewhere away from my 2 lads.....I don't think so!!

 

My tickets are in the middle.
I prefer to be far away from the drummer and pissed up young uns so will gladly swap and sit near the side with the old foagies.

I got started on by a group of lads at county last season for asking a lad to move who stood right in front of me.
Told him to piss off and he came back with a group of scroats who all started.

 

Thats between you and the ticket office, sort it out before the ame… dont be inconveniencing other supporters by nicking their seats

 

Can honestly say I've never been asked to move seats by anyone. Seems to be a general acceptance by away fans that its a free for all with those who want to stand heading to the rear and those wanting to sit to the front.

 

Not always the case. The last time I went to Doncaster we sat to the side away from where all the standing normally takes place. A family - middle aged parents and adult children, stood up right in front of us. I offered to swap rows but was refused. We had to move. I don't go to away games any more, too much aggro all round.

 

I don’t understand why the ticket office can help here?
There’s many times people in different points brackets have to buy separately but will want to sit together.
The simplest answer is to make away allocations unreserved or if the selling club won’t allow that then fans accept away games are first come first served, get in early pick your seat, come in at kick off and sit where’s left.

 

It’s not a theatre, it’s a football stadium.
Why do the club hold back blocks of seats? Sell the whole allocation from the start and let fans choose their preferred seats.
I’ll be in the stadium at Notts about 45 mins before ko and I’ll be stood in the safe standing block on the half way line which aren’t my seats. That’s the life of away games as @Bradford End states, it’s not a thing to sit where you are told.

that is one of the things with pints systems. If you want to go together then only way would be to wait until you hit the lowest tier that any of your group is in. BUT until clubs enforce sitting in your allocated seat it doesn’t really matter. I think why clubs employ the seat number system is that it allows them to sell all the seats whereas if it is sold as unreserved they are not allowed to sell the whole lot.
