Bobby would be my choice for the left sided attacker.

He is without a doubt the best player in that position.

Well we didn’t score against a team we weren’t fancied against before the season started, so naturally anyone not playing is a game changer. How many times have we had this over the years?

It was a shite performance but some real knee jerk comments!!! Particularly enjoyed the ones about Sarc been made captain and getting a new deal - really?!

A bad day at the office. Those performances continue then fair enough. A bit of tweaking in the starting 11 and 2 winnable homes coming up - and all is well again.

 

Absolutely. Yesterday was indeed a shocker, but going down there after playing on Wednesday was always a tough ask.
Re Sarce, hes been immense for us. I just hope that a couple of incomings this week enables us to get him back to his best position.

 

Absolutely, there is definitely a gap to b filled which has been glaringly obvious, hopefully the lad from QPR iff true will fill it

 

That's the way to play against us though because our central midfielders don't play like midfielders. Part of the role is marking the opposition and sensing danger. In White's goal, Sarcevic saw it too late, see him running towards White when he's waiting for the ball. Connolly is in that melee at the front post because that's where he naturally thinks to go.

Until this problem is fixed, we will leak goals. Connolly is playing too deep and I am not sure how GA will make him change that behaviour. Happy to pick examples from the Peterborough or Burnley games where shots were missed from the edge of the box before people say we won those games.

 

but you’re also missing the fact for the second goal that Pennington is blocking mckrakens view.. the balls coming straight at pennington and he moves out of the way, mckraken sees it too late and goal, if pennington didnt get “scared” of the ball he’d have blocked it

It's a smack in the mouth reality check for all the loons that thought we would walk this league ...............its a bad day at the office and guess what there are a fair few more to come.

 

Looking at some of his best bits, we need to move the ball a lot quicker and he will score.. so far we have mostly seen congested boxes where he's generally competing for the ball with others rather than being set free on the ball.

 

A very poor performance. Off days can happen, and it's very early in the season so new players especially are still finding their feet, but based on our games so far I worry we haven't addressed our biggest problem last season of attacking threat. We look to be dangerous from set players but our quality going forward has been poor.

 

I was amazed at the pre match optimism in the Bantams prediction league with many forecasting 3-1 wins and 2-0 wins. It was always going to be one of our most difficult away games of the season especially after the exertions on Wednesday night. You only have to look at how they finished last season, the key is to bounce back on Tuesday and Saturday with two home games.

 

Who said we would walk this league?

 

Bobby and Phillips hopefully address that but not been starting games regularly. Think both start Tuesday and hopefully hang onto their shirts.

 

Agree. Though I also don't think we're strong enough in the wingback area. Neufville will run all day but his delivery is poor. Touray is tidy but not especially threatening

 

It's been the same ever since Alexander came to the club. He doesn't want that one prolific striker, he'd rather we chip in across the board. Unfortunately that tends to mean we score fewer goals and pick up 1 or 2 goal wins, rather than winning by 3 or 4. The basic instinct drilled into his sides is to look for someone in a better position rather than have a go, despite what he says in public.

 

I'd rather we start Cartwright, drop Jackson and move Sarc further forward on Tuesday night. We need to see the Sarc of last season because he's criminally wasted at the moment.

It was one of those games where the opposition wanted us to have the ball and disappointingly (and just like last season) we are hopeless when teams sit off and invite us to try and create something.

It's depressing that teams know this about us but total lack of creativity when in possession does seem to be our achilles heel. For me, we did start quite nicely in possession (first 5 minutes or so) on a really nice pitch but the final pass kept on letting us down and with each misplaced pass or poor control confidence began to ebb away.

When Swan misses that chance you just knew we were stuffed - in a game where chances are at a premium - when they do crop up they need to be buried but unfortunately Swan, for all his positive attributes, is not a finisher.

Second half was mainly hoof which was "meat and drink" for the 4CBs they apparently had on the pitch. According to Sofascore Powell only touched the ball 3 times in the time he was on the pitch so even the hoofs were off target.

Quite why there's nobody on the field that can come to a realisation that the current methodology isn't working and try something different I don't know. It was like they were just going through the motions for the last 20-30 minutes waiting to get back up the motorway - Plymouth had found check mate and we just sort of chucked the towel in.

Hard not to feel gloomy about the old problems creeping back in particularly when you consider that ultimately these haven't been addressed via an entire summer transfer window.
