Its because when we lose, we lose badly. Plymouth, Mansfield, Wimbledon, Wigan. Im not gonna include Lincoln in that list because they were decent but still somewhat applicable. We go a goal down, forget how to play football, end up with next to no shots on target, and just look laboured in everything we do. If your going to lose; at least make an effort of it

Today has gone just how I thought it would today.

Flat performance and defeat after the tough match on Wednesday and long journey 2 days later.

We move on, 2 home games next week. Hopefully with our midfield strengthened with some quality.

 

Plymouth are a good footballing side and they picked us off today. Our direct style will be our undoing eventually like it was last season.

 

I can't wait for the excuses from GA. Will he quietly blame recruitment? Rupp and Sparks need to act NOW. I wonder if Preston will act too?

For me it's GA's biggest weakness. When he gets it right we can roll over teams, but when he gets it wrong we roll over and play dead, and all too often this is away from home. When we get into this kind of mindset we just don't seem to be able to turn it around. It's weird, it's like we are bi-poplar with two totally different teams even amongst the same group of players. I wish I knew what the answer is, but I don't.

 

Are you confident on that midfield? I assume another centre half incoming and no other positions ;-)

 

Does this now prove that we are definitely short of a decent striker now??????

 

It shouldn't but thats football, next week we could out snd get a hat full ( hopefully)

 

You aren't paid ridiculous money as manager to sort it but GA is. I hope they pull a couple of good midfield signings before Tuesday but we all know we won't.

 

I also feared for us today but didn't see that performance coming. Obviously the Swan miss was a big turning point- that goes in and we have a very different game.
Worryingly we were bullied big time today, and seemed to lose all fight when the 2nd went in.
A big week ahead on the recruitment front.

 

Have to say I thought Plymouth were pretty poor, they look like a team of centre backs who rely on throws and corners. And I also have to say they deserved the win and probably to win by more which shows just how crap we were. Hopefully just a blip, but we need someone with quality in midfield, it was non existent today against a two as well. Why we can’t do simple build up play I’ll never know, we are poor if our press isn’t on point.

Sarce has been our most important and influential signing in the last 10 years, today he played as the very worst players did during the Jackson/Taylor and Covid years. Terrible, he needs to be allowed back into his natural position as Jackson is never a wide 10.

Everyone was poor though I don’t want this to be seen as singling someone out, he gets mentioned due to the high standards he’s set with us.

 

Cook scores again. Never a passanger in a game. Sadly not GA type of player as not cultured enough. Not like Beesley who is technically good but will never be a top goalscorer and sadly as last season will lack the goals needed undrr GA

 

Not going to worry or read too much into that today.

For sure, we were absolutely terrible. We looked every bit a team who have played a lot of minutes, had a tough game Wednesday and made a long journey south. But that’s not an excuse - that’s where a squad comes in.

We were poor in areas we are normally so strong and diligent. Swan should score, the goals we concede are weak and the subs at half time arguably made us easier to play against.

Credit to Plymouth, they got the better of us and deserved the result. Beaten by the better team on the day but i feel it’s more like we weren’t at it rather than easily beaten by higher quality.

Get over it - move on to Tuesday is exactly what we need. Definitely no need for some of the hysteria I’m reading on here….

 

We have lost a game of football after beating Wednesday who scored 7 today and Burnley. It was a,ways going to be difficult today with a couple of days turnaround after a hard match with long travel inbetween. Let’s keep a sense of balance. Two home games now to consolidate

 

I feel like the scene in The Office UK with the good news and the bad/irrelevant news because I’m annoyed we played woefully and lost today but equally, I won £264 off a £5 bet so… happy Saturday

 

We've needed a quality CM all summer. I'm guessing we'll still need one on Wednesday because I just don't see it happening now. What a waste of Sarc as well, doesn't look half the player he was last season in his new role.
