That was piss poor overall from us.

Enjoy league 1 league 2 scrap. Cup game... No shit Sherlock. We're light years off it in terms of recruitment.

 

He did worry me in the first game to be fair, his positioning was suspect and it was exposing his lack of pace, but yes, since that game he has been solid

 

It's strange isn't it. Watched the game in Skipsea of all places and speaking to other fans after... Hull, chesterfield, and a Wednesday fan they were all full of praise and the one thing they all mentioned especially the Wednesday fan who was at the game last week was the support. We've got a lot to be positive about atm. I'll admit I wanted a bit more from us after the first half but being realistic we dug in against a decent team who were clearly a level above technically. Second half again we grew into it and looked really good at times. There's something about that group that is very Parky like and so far when we make substitutions they make a difference. I hope Powell can stay fit because he looks class. Hats off to GA and the whole team because there seems to be something about us. If we can build on this the season will be a lot better than I anticipated. For me top 10 would be a realistic aim pre season but now I'm not so sure we can't make a real go of it. Way too early for expectations but so far my hopes are higher than I thought. Lots can happen I know but so far I'm more than chuffed

 

The only thing Broja has got going for him is that he must have a very good agent. How he has got 4 Premier League moved and played 100 premier league games is beyond me. If Burnley do sell Flemming they need to spend the money wisely as they will be in big trouble if Broja is their starting striker

Even his international goalscoring record is pants.

Big guy, decent athlete, very ineffective.

Watching the highlights the one thing he did well tonight was the target man role when he laid it off for a teammate to have a crack, but he hardly dominated our centre backs like a player of his apparent value should.

The hope was he did a "Benteke" and just kept fluffing his lines, in truth, he barely even cleared his throat tonight in terms of presenting danger.

Flemming was a clown but is twice the player.

It was a classic case of a fan group with zero faith in their team. The respective reactions of the fans at the end of fulltime was telling. City fans were bouncing, theirs were totally subdued, i knew we had it when it went to penalties

 

I couldnt believe it when a lot of their fans started streaming out halfway through the penalty shootout. Anything can happen, thankfully for us, we held our nerve.

 

I am glad that I never come on here when live at a match to read any of it. Not looked back on comments made during the game either, but can guess the usual suspects

 

Absolutely nothing to be negative about in that game. 2 teams with very differing styles made for a really entertaining game, especially 2nd half.
I thought they played some good stuff but lacked a cutting edge.
Our lads who came in all did well. Thought Welch started nervously and seemed to be blowing a bit in the first half but he grew into the game and hopefully that experience will do him lots of good. Quality pens as well!
Absolutely gutted about the draw which took a bit of gloss off the evening but thats the way it goes sometimes.

 

One thing I really liked is the players didnt over celebrate the shoot out win. I was kinda hoping they didnt all charge towards Phillips like they had won the cup! It was a very professional and cool celebration.

Fans were estatic and I get that....great result.

 

I'm glad someone else noted how quiet Burnley were, I thought I'd gone deaf for a while! Maybe the £5 tickets diluted the noisier element, or perhaps they were just in awe of the Mighty Valley Parade Fortress...

But a good performance, punching above our weight and coming out on top. McCraken was especially impressive, he had a McCraken game.... (Well somebody has to say it...)

Pretty chuffed with how we are looking so far, 4 games, unbeaten & a clean sheet in open play. Let's hope we can carry that forward on the long road to Plymouth.

 

Only negatives for me were the draw and Lapslie looked way off the pace of the game first half, second half too really until he started putting some challenges in. But if he was taking on the Sarce role, he needs to be smarter on the ball to get time in this team. Lost count of the amount of times he either passed it out of play or lost it in that first half.

 

Looked up their number 12 Dastan Satpaev. The way he drifted through our midfield on several occasions was very impressive. Only 17 as well.

 

What Alexander has done is absolutely unreal - it's so good to be watching us play at this level and have these moments after all those years of league 2 mediocrity. It's not even just about tactics it's the culture and mentality he's built, I've not seen a city side that works this hard in a very very long time.

Stuart's side that lost to Millwall in the play off final was better on the eye, but had a soft side and lack of depth that this squad doesn't have.

Whatever happens we need to keep GA for as long as we possibly can.
