Theoretically, is GA going anywhere?

Sorry guys but if Preston come in for GA I think he goes. Thats his club and if they want him they take him. He has never managed in the Championship and that opportunity fast tracks him there. Lucketti is former PNE too. Its where they met! Full circle....story writes itself and they can triple his salary without a blink of an eye.

They spent £5m on Devine, £4m on Clarke and £3m on Leroy in the summer. They arent afraid to splash a few quid and despite been poor currently, they are an established Championship side.

 

They have much more money to spend than us, own their stadium and their training ground, plus they have spent 22 of the last 25 years in the Championship. They are streets ahead of us in terms of infastructure and the modern game.

A couple of wins for us and a couple of losses for them 2 games into the season doesnt change that.

 

It's massive money to us but in terms of the championship it's not a great money

 

If that happened then I would fook the club off immediately

 

Don't worry, if he wants to manage at Preston's stadium he can do that next year when they are relegated. Unless we're promoted, of course...

 

100% agree with this. All the talk of building something special with us, GA being loyal counts for nothing in modern football. If Preston come knocking with a vastly increased salary with the connection he has with the club, proximity to his family home and managing in the Championship with significant resources I'd be astounded if he didn't go. It was interesting listening to David Sharpe's radio Leeds interview over summer where he strongly hinted the time will come when clubs start noticing the work of GA and we need to be ready for what comes next. I think he made the comment if you leave the club in a better position than when you started then your job is done.

 

Considering the new financial rules...thats 3 players for a decent wedge all things considered.

They have invested more in their playing squad than Derby, Sheff Utd, QPR, Portsmouth, WBA, Norwich, Blackburn etc....all sizeable clubs. And they have invested around the same as all 3 promoted clubs - pretty much combined. I think you underestimate.

In terms of net spend they are up there in the top 6 with ease.

So what is the actual ambition of the fanbase and the owners ???,,
If its just to stay in the league them I'm sure the two there will do enough ......... if its actual promotion is GA that man ??????

 

I dont know but over the last decade they have never been near relegation bar last term - always midtable so im guessing a play off push is the ambition. Top 8 now.....

If they get relegated and want a change of manager then GA will be high on the list. Weve more chance of him remaining with us, with them still in the Championship IMO.

 

I was gutted when Parky left and I would be gutted if GA left at this time. I realise that managers just like players have personal ambitions and the club shouldn’t stand in there way but not at this stage of the season.

I would be gutted if GA was to go but wouldn't be angry more to life than football you know ...............his stock is huge at the moment and our fanbase has him right up there but let's not forget that could easily change .............sure a fair few wanted him gone over his time here and no doubt the same lot will berate him should he leave.

Btw PNE did lose to a team that should go straight back up and did play well by all accounts

I thought I’d missed the “Heckingbottom sacked” headline.

 

It's just a discussion on the forum and something we all hope will never become a reality, but I do hope the hierarchy are taking a more pragmatic view on life after GA or we could be left starting from scratch as so often seems the case after a managerial dismissal.

 

“Preston is his club”. Well he was a Coventry City fan as a kid, and “loyalty” to Preston didn’t stop him moving to Burnley!

 

Loyalty doesn't come into it, it's all about opportunity and rightly or wrongly folk are speculating one may arise at Preston

 

Peter Jackson, Lee Duxbury, etc etc. Means nothing. Nobody mentioned loyalty.
