It certainly does. Great to see us in a proper City kit.
And hats off to the club for having us wear the striped home kit even though we were away.

 

Brilliant result last night. Thought the defence was excellent, and special praise for Pennington who's been a revelation so far this season. I thought he might have moved on in the summer but glad he's still with us. Very shaky start but we weathered it well and really turned it around in the second half. McCracken an excellent signing too. Bit worried about Bobby who yet again struggled away from home but we're looking stronger than last season and have every chance of going one better. A masterclass from GA too last night.

 

Saw a couple of comments on the Owls forum suggesting that we put men behind the ball after we scored. Not sure which game they were watching.
We won that game by being more attacking, not less. We relentlessly pressed them back into their final third and starved their, very talented, midfield of the ball by stopping the defence from playing out from the back.
In the end they resorted to hoofing it forward but, unlike us, they don’t have the personnel up front to win and hold the ball so it just kept coming back at them. The way we pinned them into their right hand defensive corner for about fifteen minutes was a joy to watch.
Fantastic management from GA to get us playing further upfield in the second half when many managers would have added extra defensive midfielders after their strong first half.

 

We scored with our first shot at the second half. At around the 80th minute Sky brought up a stat that we'd had 7 shots the second half to their 0. More evidence that so many fans know little about the game, or are absolutely blinded by bias.

 

The way that we managed the game after we scored was fantastic and should be the blueprint for the rest of the season.
It wont always work out but that approach will give us the best chance of success long term.

 

Enjoyed last night a lot. We could and probably should've been behind in the first half but credit for the performance in the second half which was much better.

A lot of our problems were self inflicted - slow to react, slow to release the ball and poor decision making. But once we cut that out, Wednesday didn't really have a sniff.

Credit to Baldwin too - the redemption arc since Donny away has been quite impressive. Not only his goal but all round defensive performance was excellent.

 

Completely agree with this. Our approach to the second half after scoring completely suffocated them.

Also thought it was a great decision by GA to bring on the two subs at the 60 minute mark to continue to apply that pressure. Too often manager let the game drift but bringing on the fresh legs with Swan and Philips just meant the pressure stayed on, which was excellent.

 

We were told when he arrived that the boy likes a tackle. That certainly wasn’t wrong.

 

Can’t wait for them to constantly film Paul Hudson next time we are on live.

 

Pederson will be gone soon and Challinor in.

 

The first bloke they showed in the crowd was a chunky lad with glasses on, said to missus no idea who he is, commentator then said there is Chris Waddle, stunned.

 

It looked like Mel Sterland who was next to him had eaten quite a few of his former teammates.

I thought Swan was excellent when he came on.

 

He was. Perfect scenario for him in many ways. 1-0 up and he was basically sent on to press and keep them penned in their own half which he did brilliantly.

 

He isn't at the levels of fitness GA would expect. Don't think we'll see him start until next month at least.
