The Voice - Match preview #2: Sheffield Wednesday vs Bradford City Thursday 20th August 2026 8:00pm

How annoying was it when the Sky camera's spent as much time watching the crowd, as they did the action on the pitch. We want to see the game as much as possible. They almost missed their chance right at the end. Unfortunately though, if we maintain this start we're going to be selected more and more.

 

There's good quality on the ball and great set piece delivery with Sarc and Connolly. The slight worry I have as a lack of mobility. Might be a problem against some sides. That said, we've got genuine depth in the 10 positions which should help to keep the side fresh in games.

Essential we add more quality and depth at wingback and centre back. If we push and add quality, we could be a real side this season.

 

I still think we're not getting the best of Sarce and possibly the best midfield partnership. The game seems to pass him by and a few times, particularly in the first half, there seemed to be acres of space in the middle. GA has a predicament because we need someone to get on the ball and get us on the front foot, but that would mean replacing Sarce and he's the captain. So far so good, but I still think if there's a chance to bring in someone more suited to that particular role, we should go for it and play Sarce on the right instead of Jackson.

 

What a statement win that was!
One of the best away performances-at a big, full stadium where we came under the cosh 1st half. After the first 15 mins we gradually got into the game and getting to half time at 0-0 was critical.
2nd half was as dominant an away display as you will see. Other than the injury time miss, they didnt lay a glove on us.
Outstanding performances throughout the team -Tourey and Baldwin immense, and Neufville looked like the player of early last season, and whilst he may divide opinions, I'm loving what Beasley brings to this team! Atmosphere in the away end was superb!
We obviously need to strengthen and I'm confident we will.
Very early days but we might just have another season to remember!

 

Yeah it all really got a bit cringe, as the kids would say. I mean I get it was a big night for the fans, club back from the brink and the worst season in their history. And I was happy for them for it. But god after a while I wanted to drop kick my TV out of the window.

Still, we dealt the commentators a big two-fingered salute second half. Maybe that was the crux of GA's half time talk, just playing back some of the commentary?

Great when the so called bit part of the show destroys a night

Thought we where brilliant always gonna be a tough place to go with everything that went on with them last season.................strange with the mass overreaction from them they know how tough this league is maybe this was a huge reality check for them.

 

Really amusing when SKY go on about the miracle of Wednesday and no doubt they will be SKYs Wrexham this season in league one. Their budget will blow ours out of the water and just shows what a great performance from City that was last night. Sheffield Wednesday will be no miracle if and when they get promoted but SKY will be all over them.

 

A big factor in citys second half dominance performances is the tough pre-season training schedule in austria,it certainly seems to work early season,as it did last year.

 

Wait until they play Leicester.

The commentators won’t be able to speak they”ll be that overawed with the size of clubs they are speaking about.


It was no surprise how over the top they were last night.
The biggest issue was the cameras constantly filming the crowd and the new chairman whilst the game was in play

They nearly missed their big chance at the end because all the cameras were interested in was filming their fans looking glum because it hadn’t gone exactly as the Sky script writers had planned.

 

Doubt there budget is gonna be anywhere as big as there making out with certain sanctions still in place

 

Sheffield Weds will be up there come the end of the season and with them getting Morrison they have a top player on their hands. Plus linked Vardy then no doubt they will get battling for the top.

Last night for the first 25 mins they played some good stuff and we we lucky that they didn’t score. However, after that City we class. We need to get Beesley scoring that will be great but he works hard that’s for sure. Jackson needs to do more for me and we need to fix how to get the best out of Sarcevic. It’s early days though but we look a decent team. Losing Wright is a blow but let’s get a few more signings in and kick on.

The City fans were once again top bloody draw last night and atmosphere created by us(only) was unreal. from start to finish. Proud to be a Bantam.

 

Sadly it's the modern way now to either sure the crowd or which celebrity bellend turns up that day

Is it to much to ask to simply concentrate and what they are to do and that's to show the effing game

 

I don't know Fordy 2 games in and there seems to be already some unrest down in Sheffield .............the reality shock may turn the atmosphere toxic down there

 

Depends how much the owner wants to put into the 50/50 split rule.. they do after all have major ground repairs/improvements to do.

Agree Bannon certainly got a great strike in.

 

As the game was running down Wednesday were always going to get a chance, it would have been an injustice if they had equalised, having said that I'd think most would have taken a point before a ball was kicked.

 

Surely at some point a certain member of this forum is going to have to eat some humble pie and post a heartfelt apology on here to yesterday's man of the match

 

Yeh we need to wear the home kit whenever possible. That said, no real choice last night. Away kit is white and we dont have a 3rd kit!
