Do something about it, influence Rupp to spend more that’s yours and sparks job to get the most out of him. If he ain’t got it sell other options like other people investing. We are expecting GA to work another miracle again with a budget around 12th he said.

He is right it’s the two positions we have no competition for.

 

That really would put a HOLE in the fortune he has spent a lifetime working for. We are his club, not his life.

 

Sparks has kept squeezing extra funds from Rupp but there is a limit to what he will spend and what we can spend under the new financial rules. Not that we can't compete on the pitch but we can't generally compete financially with clubs who either have endless money pots or the clubs history is bigger and better than ours.

Are just a number of teams we can't compete financially with and I could add a few more however spending stupid amounts doesn't mean success either.

Do you really think we should have a budget bigger than every other club in the division. We might be a city than most but let's be realistic more than half of the population don't give a toss about football and even some of those that do support teams in the premier league.

 

Sharpe saying we need another midfielder, will be interesting to see if that is a starter or back up to Cartwright and Connolly. If it's the latter, do Cartwright and Connolly have the attacking intent to give us what we were missing with Power and Metcalfe?

 

Got to be someone to fit the DM role for me.

Sharpe pulling some more bits around how Connolly has played midfield before at Championship level for Ipswich, but that was nearly a decade ago. I cant think of many midfielders who play the same game 10 years on, especially when they've played defence for 90-95% of their games in the last 10 years. It's going to be a massive own goal in my view if we have no plan B for that position, just expecting Connolly to pick the midfield role up again with no backup/competition is such a gamble. Got to be someone who can slide into DM if Connolly cant play the position these days.

 

I must admit i'm only kinda keeping an eye on City at the min, i have practically zero enthusiasm for the upcoming season as of yet because 1) Football is still coming home and 2) the summer movements so far just seem very meh.

The midfield feels like a massive gamble so far to me. But the biggest thing everyone was crying out for last season, especially at the end was legs and pace. The team at times in March/April looked like we were running in sand on the pitch, and we've not addressed that at all.
