Henry Cartwright signs

Absolutely need players off the wage bill. It’s huge.

 

Looks and sounds like another shrewd signing by Sharpe and co. Fits the system we play and has a very effective press. Leicester fans unhappy he is leaving is always a good sign. Leicester academy is also one of the too tier in England.

 

I had never heard of Henry Cartwright before tonight. He might work out, he might not, but I'm far more excited about a signing like this than some journeyman going through the motions. It feels like we've moved on in our recruitment. Having said all that I can't help but think he could do with a Max Power alongside him to steady him down and hand out a bollocking when required.

Anyway looking forward to seeing him play for us.

 

Nope, I have never heard of him either but I had never heard of Jenson Metcalfe this time last year, despite his spell at Chesterfield.

Good luck to the lad. He sounds a gritty hard working midfielder, just the type we need.

I am sure there was a rumour of him a few weeks ago on here, as I remember thinking another player reveal at Cartwright Hall perhaps, just after the signing of Jake Beesley?

 

I think it will be like last season with Metcalfe and Cartwright will come on off the bench I can't see him starting unless he has a hell of a pre season I still think another top midfielder will come in.

Has he? If you mean the pics of the lad next to Lunn, I don't think that's Cartwright. The lad in those pics doesn't have tatts, Cartwright does.

Bit of good and less good from the Falkirk forum.

Good:

Yeah, I reckon we've signed him as competition rather than someone we're putting too much pressure and expectation on. Though like others have said, we sorta started like that with Jenson, and he nailed down that starting place pretty sharpish after a couple of injuries to other players.

 

Many others on that forum said he should have started a lot more games

 

I hope so, he only started 11 of 34.

I'm not moaning, I just don't think we're looking at a guaranteed starter from the looks of it.

Then again, I hope nobody is a guaranteed starter.

Competition for all positions, please, yes, including goalkeeper and centre forward.

We must be looking at bringing a CM in who has experience of playing in that position recently surely? Connolly might turn out to be fantastic but he hasn't played there for quite a while so it's a bit of a gamble, and Cartwright's a young lad still finding his way in the game so his game time will need to be carefully managed in the same way Metcalfe's was.
Recruitment does look really good so far and we've paid a fee for the majority that have come in. It would be madness to waste all of that investment by not bringing an actual CM in and instead, doing something stupid like playing Phillips there instead.
