If you read the article on the website it doesn’t mention midfield it’ does mention versatility

 

Is he left or right footed?
I'd like to see another left footer brought in if possible.

 

If he is here to replace Byrne then people seem happy, if he is here for Power , then they are not so happy
I personally think the midfield bit is as cover in an emergency

 

The announcement literally introduces him as a midfielder.

Not a name that gets the excitement level up but no fee, contract length is good along with (assuming here) financial terms will will be affordable. That still gives (assuming here) money from the Metcalfe sale to be spent on signings that will require a fee and whose contract financial terms could well be higher. All in all good business. It's about the squad, 46 games, not marquee signings.

If Baldwin is your first to go out of defence then the rest should have long gone by now. For me he was head and shoulders above all the defence last season. Only downside is he isn't naturally quick but his recovery to get back is 2nd to none.

 

The website introduction doesn’t

 

The BBC league 1 website announce it as "Bradford strengthen their midfield with the signing of midfielder Callum Connelly" Think someone has their knickers in a twist.

 

Offish website is saying "midfielder" which isn't really what I wanted to be reading.

 

My brother, the keen Ipswich fan, says that Connolly did quite well in midfield when he was on loan for Ipswich, albeit a while ago. He says it was the final year when Mick McCarthy was manager there, so it was not a particularly good time for the Ipswich team, but he did well in midfield, he had always been in defence prior to that.

 

There's just something about utility players doing "quite well" in teams that aren't doing particularly well overall lol

I'm with @Rogered Tart, specialists preferred, utility players accepted though but not as primary options in critical roles.

DCM has been so pivotal this past 2 successful seasons that we'd be nuts to put our eggs in the basket of someone who might be able to do a job there.

FWIW, I'm not actually moaning because I don't believe we'll do that.

 

So we’ve signed a player who’s played years in championship and was a first choice for Stockport who have come 3rd two years in a row yet still some moan

 

I suppose anyone going tonight could always ask where is Callum Connelly likely to play?

 

Can take a decent freekick apparently... We will soon coach that out of him
