He was playing league one as a centre back and assuming he gets over his injury I am sure he'll be capable of doing the same for us.

I hope any midfield appearances are limited to the last 5 minutes of a match here and there.

We need midfielders who can pass the ball.

 

Are they saying that because he’s a quality defender or because they only had 1 fit CB towards the end of the season?

Well reality is he has played at Wigan, Bolton, Blackpool and Ipswich in the Championship and was ever present in a good Stockport side that reached the play offs. Looks astute to me. And at 28 has a few years left in him.

If he's been brought in to oust Pennington from the RCB slot then I'm all for it. Its a position we are weak in and has been a hotspot for us getting injuries there.

If its to replace Power or Metcalfe then we are in trouble. We play a midfield two and typically get over run. Deploying a CB is not going to fix our problems

that being said, I find it hard to believe that we went from being linked with the likes of Dempsey, Morsey, Wintle etc to getting a Stockport CB to replace our captain so im not gonna worry just yet

 

Welcome Callum Connolly! With Byrne and Kelly leaving I believe it is a good signing to replace them. We have plenty of cover in CB positions now. If he can cover in some matches at Holding Mid fantastic. I don't see him being a midfield regular. I do think weve got a few perm signings in midfield yet to come and loans to complement that.

 

GA likes versatility he can play all across the back line and midfield. Will have to see him play but sounds like a wise signing

 

Who linked them with us …. Twitter and YouTube feeding on people’s imagination for the ridiculous . We can’t afford those types of wages , never have been , yet some believe being linked with 15 year olds wish lists who hardly survive on a £5 spending money , means a player is heading our way ? We all need to be realistic and not believe the nonsense churned out by those seeking monetary gain. Sorry to dash dreams.

 

His record suggests so providing of course he is fully over his back injury. 290 games, all of which have been for teams higher placed than us. It's all going to end in tears(sigh)

 

I will say again, can we see the lad in a City shirt, kicking the ball before we write him off
He could turn out to be a great signing or a complete flop.
He has had a decent career thus far
